I wasn't kidding when I mentioned wanting to see NY Korps. I don't travel much and we see so much of the 'mystique' of certain cities in movies, but not the actual place. NYC has always fascinated me as I'm a night guy and would love to check out the sights.

It's nice to see it from the ground up, thanks man.

Twas certainly a horrible day. 3 of my friends lost people they knew in the towers. I was only 13 when it happened. I went to school only 13 blocks away from the towers, I heard the "boom" and felt the rumbles of the explosion. Originally I thought it was a bad accident on the street, but the rumbles were to harsh to be an accident. My school went on complete lock down for 5 days. I remember my mother picking me up at 11am and when I went outside, I started to cough VERY badly because of all the smoke. I saw people running, people with blood all over them, debris flying everywhere, and a very chilling silence. It was the first time I ever saw the financial district (lower Manhattan) COMPLETELY empty and quiet. All you heard was the sound of coughing and crying. I remember being afraid of a low flying plane for YEARS, any loud noise scared the SHIT out of me to the point of me crying. I remember this like it was yesterday.

These are the WTC Memorial Lights. They are only put on on 9/11, every year since it happened. They are bright enough and tall enough so that anywhere in NYC, Hudson County NJ, and Westchester you can see them.

It is good to see them building something there...must have been beyond bizarre, living in that city for a number of years with the empty lots in the middle of downtown. The new buildings will help with the healing :thumbsup:

I lived on Long Island for 10 years before moving to FL. Got a chance to go up the WTC. It was nice. Unfortunately from the observation deck you couldn't see straight down as you might think. There were railings that kept you away from another set of railing along the edge of the building. I believe a few floors down there was an observation area which you could get up close to the windows and look down. There was also some etchings on the windows which identified the buildings and surrounding area of the city. It was neat. I was about 10 or eleven at the time, glad I got to go up it.

I visited NYC in 2004 for a wedding, went to Ground Zero on a Friday night at like 3 AM. It was surreal. At the time there were still quite a few buildings and business that were boarded up and plywood on windows. I cried for the devastation and for the souls lost. They had a makeshift memorial and a list of names of the deceased. My wife never made it out of the car. She couldn't handle the scene.

As you can probably tell, I LOVE LOVE LOVE taking photos. Not necessarily of NYC because I hate this place with a passion, but what happens in my life. I just posted pics of NYC because people seem to be amazed. Im just amazed at how much crap they were able to fit on a 13mile long (20KM), 3.5mile (5.6KM) wide island that is know as Manhattan. As Hal told me in a PM, people here like to talk about their life experiences, I just do it in pictures. I hope you guys enjoy them, because I will be posting a shit ton.

Live from Korpiklaani studios, 34 year old NYPD Cop was shot near Bronx-Lebanon Hospital. Lol

I actually had the honors to help wheel him in to the ER, even though I was off work. I came out of the subway station that is next to the hospital, and my chief saw me and asked to help. Out of respect to the cop, this is the only picture I took. Just the news anchors. The cop is expected to be okay, although he was shot near his liver. I was honestly kind of creeped out because I have never seen a gun shot wound up close before. But yeah, this basically sums up the past 4 hours of my life.

An off-duty New York City police officer chased after a trio of men after he came upon them during a robbery Wednesday night, despite having been shot in the chest by one of them when he intercepted, authorities say. One of the suspects was shot by the officer and killed.

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said Officer Ivan Marcano, 34, was sitting in the passenger seat of his car on Harrison Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when his girlfriend saw two men robbing a third.

She told Marcano, who got out of the car, pulled out his gun and shield and identified himself as a police officer, Kelly said.

"As soon as he did, one of the suspects fired, striking Officer Marcano in the chest,'' Kelly said Wednesday evening at a news conference with Mayor Michael Bloomberg at the Bronx hospital where the officer was taken.

The wounded Marcano got back into the vehicle with his girlfriend behind the wheel. She took off to seek medical attention when their car became held up at a red light behind several vehicles, Kelly said. She honked at the cars, and a white car in front of her jerked forward, hitting a livery cab and then a parked car before going onto the sidewalk where it came to a stop. Three men got out.

Marcano recognized them and got out of his car, taking cover some distance away. Holding his left hand over his wound, with his gun in his right hand, he approached the men and fired one shot, Kelly said.

He then moved to another location and fired again. "In a remarkable display of marksmanship and cool under fire, Officer Marcano fired, striking one of the suspects in the head,'' Kelly said.

The man died at the scene. The other men ran off in different directions.

Marcano followed one of the men, and came across an ambulance, which got him to Bronx Lebanon Hospital, Kelly said.

A gun was recovered at the scene. The shooting spurred an army of NYPD officers to spread through the neighborhood, looking for the other two men.

"There's police standing on every corner, all day and every day," said resident Crystal Lopez. "So for something like this to happen in police presence is scary."

Marcano, who joined the force in 2007 and was assigned to Transit District 12, is expected to be OK.

He is the 12th NYPD officer to be shot in eight separate incidents so far this year, according to Kelly.

The New York City subway system is 108 years old, but it has never faced a disaster as devastating as what we experienced last night. Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on our entire transportation system, in every borough and county of the region. It has brought down trees, ripped out power and inundated tunnels, rail yards and bus depots. As of last night, seven subway tunnels under the East River flooded. Metro-North Railroad lost power from 59th Street to Croton-Harmon on the Hudson Line and to New Haven on the New Haven Line. The Long Island Rail Road evacuated its West Side Yards and suffered flooding in one East River tunnel. The Hugh L. Carey Tunnel is flooded from end to end and the Queens Midtown Tunnel also took on water and was closed. Six bus garages were disabled by high water. We are assessing the extent of the damage and beginning the process of recovery. Our employees have shown remarkable dedication over the past few days, and I thank them on behalf of every New Yorker. In 108 years, our employees have never faced a challenge like the one that confronts us now. All of us at the MTA are committed to restoring the system as quickly as we can to help bring New York back to normal.

I imagine they would have to drain that and physically dry all the metal involved as quickly as possible. That water's from the ocean... it's salt water and it's highly corrosive.

NYC Trains use a 3rd rail that provides the train with electricity. So water will be a big issue for them.

Hugh Carey tunnel is flooded as well. Im watching the news right now, and they said that it will take them 4 days to repair the whole system. 4 million people are without power. Also, ConEd (Power provider for NYC) said that due to salt water and electric components not mixing, they will be shutting off power one borough at a time to fix them.

They haven't stopped making them, they just don't put as many into circulation compared to the other common denominations. From what I understand, you can ask for them at some banks and credit unions. I'm pretty sure you can ask for the dollar and half dollar coins as well.
