Florida couple face felony child abuse charges
FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CNN/WPBF) - A Florida couple face felony child abuse charges for allegedly forcing one of their children to live outside.
In a case that almost sounds like the fairy tale "Cinderella," deputies say the 11-year-old told them her step-mother forced her to shower outdoors, wash her clothes in a bucket and even use the bathroom outside.
She says she was allowed in at night, but had to sleep on the floor without blankets.
Deputies say two other children at the house appeared to be well cared for, while the victim looked dirty.
Authorities arrested Juan and Joanna Moreno over the weekend after receiving a 911 call.
Officials say the children are in state custody.
