GLENDALE, Ariz. -- A security guard at the Arizona State Mental Hospital was arrested earlier this week after he allegedly tried to throw away his large collection of child pornography.
Deputies with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and computer crimes detectives were called to a Glendale apartment complex last Sunday after a woman found several trash bags in a dumpster that contained hundreds of sketch drawings of disturbing sexual images of young boys.
Images of naked boys, a broken laptop computer, printers, a shredder, and flash drives were also located.
Authorities were able to use items like mail and personal photographs to determine that the images and other property belonged to Roger James Forney.
Investigators went on to examine the laptop's hard drive and found thousands of images of young, naked children.
Authorities conducted a search warrant at Forney’s apartment at 13148 W. Ocotillo Road, and he was arrested on Tuesday.
Following his arrest, investigators say Forney admitted that he had tried to destroy the photos after an FBI warning locked his computer.
Forney reportedly went on to admit that he is sexually attracted to young boys, but added that he hadn’t actually touched any children.
Forney claimed that he was happy he was caught because he can finally get help for his “evil.”
Forney was booked into the 4th Avenue Jail and is facing 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
