Police arrested two men found intoxicated inside a KFC on Indianapolis' Southside while one of the men's 2-year-old son ran around the restaurant unsupervised.

The child's father, James Rainbolt, 33, Indianapolis, is at Marion County Jail on preliminary charges of public intoxication and neglect of a dependent. Police found Rainbolt and his friend, Andrew Kelley, 35, Indianapolis, eating inside the KFC in the 900 block of East Hanna Avenue shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday.

According to an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department report, the two men were "falling in and out of consciousness" and were "trying to reach for food as if they were in a slow motion movie." The restaurant manager told police she woke up one of the two men because the child was running around the store with no shoes on, the report said.

The two had slurred speech and continued to fall asleep even while talking to the police officer, the report said. Police later found that both men are convicted felons and one of them -- Kelly -- was carrying a loaded handgun in his pocket.

Kelly has been preliminarily charged with public intoxication and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Rainbolt is being held on a $5,000 bond. Kelly is on a $30,000 bond.
