Early voting FTW.

I have to admit I almost voted for Gary Johnson.

I did at least do my homework on referendums, judges, etc. so I felt informed. :)

There's only three in GA:

Republican
Democrat
Libertarian

Jack Kingston's up for reelection for his seat in the HOR. I've always despised that idiot, but I really don't like his competition either. I think Jack's the lesser of two evils here.

There's a mess of state and local people up for election/reelection on my ballot. A lot of these people are running unopposed. My county sheriff is up for reelection. He's actually a friend of my family, so I have to vote for him. Besides, his competition is a former lacky of the corrupt sheriff that he replaced. So I sincerely doubt anyone's gonna vote for anybody except the current sheriff.

And surprise, surprise! There are only two proposed GA constitutional amendments this time around. I gotta look into those.

Looks like that's it for me.

Did your move change any of your state or local level districts?

If it did, they sent me the correct ballot for it because I got my address change in before the ballot went out in the mail. It came to my new address without a forwarding label. I don't think the move changed anything anyway though, it was not a far move, even though I changed the suburb I live in.

DemonGeminiX
10-31-2012, 10:49 AM
Cool deal. I'm in an area that if I move to another suburb, everything changes.

Teh One Who Knocks
10-31-2012, 10:55 AM
Yeah, if I would have moved across the city I would most like have changed congressional districts, but the new house was only about a mile away from the apartment I lived in. I did change cities like I said, but that was it. There was nothing local on the ballot this year...just some county issues and I didn't change counties.

Yeah, I'm not sure about the two I'm gonna have to vote for. I have to go read the bills. I just don't feel like doing it right now. There's a whole mess of adverts around town telling people to vote no on one of them, the one about charter schools. The other one, something about leasing out real estate, I just found out about last night when I did a search for the actual ballot at the county website to see what was gonna be on it.

Votes are tallied electronically with the numbers listed on reports that are given to precinct committeemen at the pollsites. States know which precincts count the most and can tell if one party/candidate has enough of a lead that the opponent cannot catch up. While not 100% foolproof they can be calculated fairly quickly.

It does crack me up how yahoo can't seem to get current projections while independent reports have no problem whatsoever. Wonder if that has anything to do with Romney being ahead :-k

This isn't voter fraud. This is a shift in identity and ideology. This is a younger generation and a rising population of minorities that don't believe in "Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country." They don't believe in effort or personal achievement. They don't believe in hard work and dedication. They believe in getting whatever they can from whereever they can. They believe that the government should take care of them. The black people aren't going to vote for a white guy, no matter what. "The white guy's just gonna take care of his white buddies and we ain't gonna get shit. I wanna get me mine". This is what it is now. People want stuff. They don't want pride, they don't want achievements... they want stuff and they don't care how it comes to them as long as it's free to them. These aren't chess players. They can't think 5 moves ahead. They can't see cause and effect. They can't see consequence. And they outnumber the rest of us who can.

from an outsiders point of view (speaking for a few countries here)

I'll preface with - Americans are my brothers, they always will be. I poke fun, I mention certain stereotypes, but it doesn't change how intricately meshed our two countries are. Same clothes, same music, same cultural references, same ideals for the most part. And I wouldn't want that to ever change.

It appears to me that most Americans here... enjoy a good standard of living, have decent jobs and a nice place to live. So it's hard for us folks who don't live there to understand where all the vitriol and frothing and anger comes from after your leader is elected. I've read small amounts of how Obama mismanaged funds and jobs and I do agree with most of it.

But the bottom line is and should be - Has your personal standard of living suffered because of your elected official(s)? Again I don't know, this is merely an observation. I won't endorse either the Democrats or the Republicans...because I'm not trying to survive in the environment.

Without posting reams of charts and graphs can someone, anyone....tell me from a ground floor level how your president has negatively impacted your life? I am truly interested in the reason for all of the hate because it seems disproportionate to the lifestyles (I think) you lead. Thanks

mismanaged funds/DoE loans, end run around constitution on obamacare, extrajudicial killing, vicious EPA, ignoring judges with regard to the illegal halting of enrgy development, DoJ that is completely corrupt and incompetent, the appointing of SCOTUS justices that do not follow the constitution...where to start. you cant say he's anti war, you cant say he follows the constitution, you cant say they care about borrowing more and more and more money to finance bigger and larger government, they point the finger at "rich people" when the issue is we have a government gone wild with credit cards, and the deficits wind up impacting each and every one of us.

the obama admin is an assault on america, bro.
