I wouldn't go that far. The fact is Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer basically created American thrash metal. That's why they're considered the Big 4 and bands like Testament, Exodus, Nuclear Assault, etc etc etc get knocked down to the second tier classification.

As far as Testament goes, they've always been a good band, one of my favs, but I was pleasantly shocked and amazed by the stuff they put out in the mid to late 90s. Demonic and the Gathering are both really awesome albums.
