A mother has been charged with murder and neglect after her two-month-old son was found starved to death on top of a dresser drawer in a house that was deemed 'deplorable' and 'unfit for human habitation'.

Bambi Glazebrook, 29, from Indianapolis, appeared in court this morning where she pled not guilty to the death of her son Phillip Robey, who was 'mere skin and bones' when police found him and weighed just five pounds.

Family and friends of the 29-year-old said they had reported neglect to the DCS and police several times and if they had acted, Phillip would still be alive.

Child welfare confirmed they did receive a tip off and had been trying to find the family of the baby for weeks.

Police found the baby dead on Thursday after being called to a house in Indianapolis, according to Fox. He was lying in a dresser drawer which was sitting on an entertainment center in the living room.

An autopsy showed the baby died of starvation.

Cousin and neighbor Martha Robertson said: 'He was so small. It looked like if you tried to pick him up that he would break.

'His cheeks were sunken in, his eyes were sunken in. He looked like he hadn't been fed in over a month. I told her that she needed to take him to the hospital.

'She told me that I needed to stay out of her business, she could take care of her child herself.

'I called CPS three times and I called the police twice to come out here and try to do something. I told them every time that it was a life and death situation... that if they did not do something that the child was going to die.'

Glazebrook’s father, Phillip Brahlek, said Tuesday evening that DCS previously took three of Glazebrook’s five children away from her. He wasn’t sure why.

He told police that the baby had been fussy around 2pm on the day he died and an hour later, when his daughter wen to xhange his diaper, he had stopped breathing and his leg was stiif.

Mr Brahlek then called 911, but he said: 'As soon as I touched him and saw him … I knew there was a problem.'
