A Holiday man was arrested after deputies said he tried to walk out of a gas station with a 12-pack of beer in his pants.
Kevin Furtney, 41, has been charged with felony retail theft in connection with the incident, which happened at a Hess gas station shortly after midnight Friday.
Deputies said Furtney took a 12-pack of Natural Ice off the shelf, then tried to hide it in his pants. They said he then walked past the register without paying.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they said they could immediately tell Furtney was hiding something.
When they asked Furtney what was in his pants, they said he replied, "I am stupid and drunk, I stole it," and then handed over the beer, deputies said.
Furtney has three previous theft charges. As a result, this most recent charge has been upgraded to a felony.
