For the past week it's been -28C here...lots of snow that quickly turned to ice. Our streets have been skating rinks since before Christmas....

I forget sometimes about the cold weather and the other night I went to my bud's place who bought a new house. We were out in his garage (no heater or wall insulation) chatting, smoking etc and after about an hour I can't bend my fingers very well...

it was then we realized that YES, it's almost -30, we both weren't wearing gloves and I was only wearing a summer jacket :lol: :doh:

I work until dark but I'll try to get some this weekend. Our temps have gone up to about -10C since that last post....about a 20 degree turnaround. Very moderate (for us) today...

I have to travel throughout the city both day and night so clear streets is what I look for. Words cannot describe our side streets right now. Imagine about 10 cm of well packed snow, with a layer of ice on top. No matter what type of tires you have on your vehicle, whether your vehicle is all wheel drive or not....when the roads are this icy you slide applying your brakes going only 20 kph.

The cold is another thing....when it gets to -30C, it feels like you're on the moon. The air is sharp and empty (?) and you end up moving from your vehicle to your house to your place of work to shopping stores, without spending much time outside. It's like there's no oxygen and it's anything but 'refreshing'.

I seem to be always going outside with wet hair....I don't use a comb so I just run my hands under some water and use that to 'style' my hair for that just got out of bed look. I don't wear a toque or gloves either (typical Canadian winter attire) because I'm an idiot..

We also have what's called the wind chill factor which means it could be -20C on the thermometer but the wind makes it feel like -35C...



Snow is a pain in the ass Sadaka....you have to brush it off of your car (sometimes 4 times a day), you have to shovel it off of your sidewalks and at times, you get stuck in it driving....it's heavy and at times wet and always cold. it's certainly not the romantic or picturesque thing you see in movies or on postcards :lol:

even when there's blue skies and the sun is out, it can be -30C.....and that can cause frostbite within minutes if you're not careful.
