A TEENAGE burglar was spared prison after he agreed to help his mum with household chores instead.
Jobless Jamie Froom, 18, will stay out of jail if he makes his bed, does the washing-up and is nice to his parents.
He was let off custody despite admitting two break-ins. But a judge insisted he will be locked up if his mum later tells the court he is not pulling his weight at home.
Judge David Ticehurst told him at Bristol Crown Court: You can make your bed every day, do the washing-up and respect your mum and dad.
Froom, from Mangotsfield, Bristol, said later: To be honest, I think the judge should have sent me to prison.
Tory MP David Davis slammed the sentence. He said: It is absolutely disgraceful. Burglars should go to prison.
