Teh One Who Knocks

I want answers dammit! :x

8-[

It's not that difficult

Here's how it will go:

A) Pick 15 celebrities that you think will kick the bucket next year - scoring is based on the age of the celebrity. It starts with 100 and then you subtract the celebrity's age. For example, you choose a celebrity that does in fact die next year and that celeb is 85 years old, the score would be 15 points (100-85=15). But, if you correctly take a gamble and pick a younger one, and that celeb happens to be 24 when they die next year, the score would be 76 (100-24=76). The younger your correct pick, the more points. You don't need to predict date of death, just who you think will in fact die next year.

B) The lists need to be made before December 31st and then PM'ed to me. I will start a new thread and then put everyone's picks in that thread so everyone can see everyone's picks and everyone's scores. I will keep score and update that first post as the year goes along.

C) You don't replace someone if somebody on your list dies. Your list of 15 is finalized as soon as you PM it to me. It can be changed prior to December 31st if you PM me about it, but once the calendar changes to January 1st, 2013, all lists are final.

D) The winner will be the one who scored the most points as of the end of the year. In the event of a tie, the win will go to the one that correctly picked the biggest risk (the youngest celeb to have died).

And so far we have the following people in as far as I can tell:

Myself
RBP
Kevin
Lee
Dee
Noilly
Lamby

Anyone can play...just come up with your list and PM it to me :)

DemonGeminiX

How are we defining celebs?

Do politicians/ex-politicians and royalty count? You know, Jimmy Carter and HW are both getting a little long in the tooth. Prince Phillip, too. Do assassinations count? Obama avoided any attempts on his life in his first term, but given the crap that may occur come next year, ya never know... (Don't be concerned if I disappear for a long time, it was just the secret service coming to take me away...). Surely the Syrian and/or Egyptian Presidents have pissed off their people enough for somebody to want to take a shot at them.

How about famous scientists? Stephen Hawking seems like a good bet.

What about incarcerated celebs? OJ might get shanked in prison, ya know.

Can we count religious figures?

It seems Lindsay Lohan would be the obvious choice, but for some odd reason, I'm thinking she's gonna be her generation's Keith Richards.

I think I'll make a list a little closer to January, if I remember. I'd hate to come up with a list and some of the entrants buy the farm before the new year comes around. I just want to be sure that the one's I'm thinking of all make it to 2013. :d

Of course, if it comes to pass that we all bite the bullet on December 21st, well then, there ya go...

:P

You can change your list up until the lock-in date of December 31st. So if you submit your list and someone on it dies before Dec 31st, you can substitute someone else in.

Oofty Goofty
12-06-2012, 04:59 PM
So the "death dates" have to be between January 1st and December 31st 2013 - If a celebrity on someone's submitted list dies prior to January 1st, the death doesn't count, and a substitution must be made?

I really didn't have a strategy. I looked at some people that I knew were sick and/or old and figured in a few who were on a path of self-destruction or were likely to be assassinated by their own people, or via targeting by outside forces. I just figuratively pulled them out of a hat.

I had a few on there originally that I took off for various reasons. I'm keeping them as alternates in case somebody on my list kicks the bucket before the 1st. And there were those I took off the list like Honey Boo Boo. That was just wishful thinking.

No kids allowed :nono:

Yeah I had a few too many and deleted some off... I didn't keep the list of alternates because if one of them died I'd be pissed I deleted them. Like Demi Lovato.

You're right. I should put her mother down as an alternate.

I'm kidding. I've got a ton of alternates that are actually likely to die for various reasons.

Film director and newspaper columnist Michael Winner has died, aged 77, his wife Geraldine has confirmed.

Born in Hampstead, London in 1935, he directed more than 30 films, including Death Wish and Scorpio.

He was also famous for his barbed restaurant reviews, written for The Sunday Times under the banner "Winner's Dinners".

Winner had been ill for some time. Last summer, he said liver specialists had given him 18 months to live.

Paying tribute to her husband, Mrs Winner said: "Michael was a wonderful man, brilliant, funny and generous.

"A light has gone out in my life."
Ill health

Winner was born to to Jewish expatriate parents in London. His mother was Polish and his father Russian.

He attended St Christopher's School in Letchworth and went on to study law and economics at Cambridge University.

According to his official website, he was, at 17, the youngest student there and graduated aged 20.

He was enamoured with the film industry, and would often blag his way onto film sets and interviews. This led to work as a journalist and film critic, before he joined Motion Pictures Limited as a writer and editor in 1956.

By 1962, he had directed his first movie, Play it Cool, a pop musical starring Billy Fury.

With his own film company, Scimitar, established in the mid-60s, he made a number of satirical films starring Oliver Reed, including The System and I'll Never Forget What's 'Is Name.

But he became more well-known for his action films, especially the violent Death Wish series, starring Charles Bronson as an architect who turns vigilante after his wife and daughter are murdered.

In later years, Winner also directed a series of commercials for an insurance company featuring the catchphrase: "Calm down dear!"

For his entry in the 2012 edition of Who's Who, the director listed his interests as "eating, being difficult, making table mats, washing silk shirts" and "doing Pilates badly".

He had experienced a run of ill-health since eating a bad oyster on holiday in Barbados in 2007. He later picked up the E coli virus from a steak tartare, and was hospitalised eight times in the last few months of his life.

But he continued to write his weekly column for The Sunday Times until 2 December, 2012, signing off with the headline: "Geraldine says it's time to get down from the table. Goodbye."
