View Full Version : BCS Championship Game - Alabama v Notre Dame (SETTLED)

Well, the rigors of a college football season is over and we have our two teams set to duke it out for the BCS National Championship Game in Miami. In one corner, we have the surprising Notre Dame Fighting Irish, who were unranked when their season began back in Dublin, Ireland. In the other corner, we have the Alabama Crimson Tide, the old standard in college football and yet another team to represent the SEC in the BCS National Championship. It is sure to be a great game, so lets break it down.

At the beginning of the season, everyone thought we’d see a USC vs. fill in an SEC team here National Championship game. No pundits or coaches, save for Brian Kelly, in the world of college football bet the Irish would have made it this far. Alabama needed some dominoes to fall and got that in one week with Kansas State and Oregon both falling to get to the BCS Championship Game. The Crimson Tide have been beatable as of late, but they were so dominant at the beginning of the season, so maybe a little rest will do them good.

First and foremost, this will not be an offensive game. Both teams pride themselves on their defense with the very talented and Heisman runner-up Manti Te’o leading the Irish defense and the Crimson Tide’s defense is ranked second in the nation in total defense and their front four is something to fear. The two defenses have given up the least amount of points in the nation (Notre Dame with 10.3 and Alabama with 10.7). In order for the Irish to be successful, the Irish must stop the Tide’s running game that was 1st in the SEC and 14th in the nation in rushing yards and with Barrett Jones to create holes for the running game, the Irish must try to break through. Te’o has 103 tackles, the most on a very good Irish defense, and must be at the top of his game. The Notre Dame offense must also try to stretch out ‘Bama’s defense as Texas A&M, LSU, and Georgia have done. LSU’s Zach Mettenberger made the Tide defense very tired in its game against them and nearly pulled off the upset, if it weren’t for AJ McCarron’s late game heroics.

Alabama must try to contain the Irish offensive trio of Everett Golson, Theo Riddick, and Cierro Wood. Golson is a scrambler and could give even the best defenses fits and, throughout the season, Golson has been playing with more and more confidence. The running back tandem of Cierre Wood and Theo Riddick have perhaps its biggest test all year with having to try to run against the Alabama front four. If the Crimson Tide is just as good as its been all year, the Irish will have a very hard time running the ball and they will have to make Golson throw the ball.

I have a feeling that this game could very well be an instant classic, either this or the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, and I believe that if the Crimson Tide do what I said they should do, and I believe they will, the Tide will win the game, 20-17. I can’t wait for this game and I have one last closing statement, is it January 7th yet?

Firefox 17.0.1 w/ the default skin.

If it's a lot of work don't worry about it. I just wanted to place a bet on Notre Dame because I despise the SEC.

Click on the number field under the Stake heading corresponding to the team you wish to place your wager on, edit the field to the amount you wish to wager, and hit the Bet Now! button.

The only think I can click on is the name of the team on this page... there are no other available fields on this page or the landing page for the Notre Dame link.

Not that important...

Yeah I get the beta releases, but not the coders releases.... you can sign up for that too, but I hear it's more unstable.

Can you install the stable release along side the beta?

I have no idea what that means... dual Firefox? Isn't that like dividing by zero?

I heard today on the radio that Notre Dame was working airport security when Alabama was flying home.

They got through untouched.
