Forget milking – porting is the latest internet craze set to sweep the nation, and it’s going to drive mums and dads everywhere absolutely potty.
It has begun with students at Durham University dressed in suits pouring bottles of port over their heads (thus ruining perfectly good clean white shirts) before uploading the clips onto YouTube.
Last month, undergraduates from a Newcastle university hit the headlines after a video of them throwing four-pint containers of milk over themselves in public places went viral.
However the Durham students have taunted their ‘student cousins’ saying: ‘We figure if you’re going to do something you might as well do it properly.
‘Don’t cry over spilt milk Newcastle – do it the Durham way #portingDurham’

Their antics have been highlighted in Durham’s online student tabloid, The Tab, who described it as a ‘cracking effort from Durham’s finest’.
‘It’s all about one-upmanship,’ a porting spokesman said.
‘We started out trying to get one better than our student cousins at Newcastle but, due to our lactose intolerance, we were unable to do it with milk.
‘We commend Newcastle in their valiant effort – inspiring us to go one further.
‘We were approached by a high street washing powder brand, and it all fell into place. What better thing to do than pour fortified wine over crisp white shirts?’
A MilkingNewcastle representative hit back, telling them: ‘Come back and talk to us when you have half a million views.’
