The Reykjavík Metropolitan Police recently received a notice of a man running around naked on the lawn in front of the Government Offices. He tried to outrun the police but they eventually managed to get hold of him.
The man was a young foreign tourist, wearing nothing but his socks. He was very upset about the incident and once inside the police car, he told the officers his story, visir.is reports.
He said he had met Icelandic girls at a bar in the city center. They dared him to take his clothes off and run around on the grass, stating that this was common practice in Iceland.
They volunteered to hold his clothes while he completed the task but then made a run for it, leaving him cold and naked and without his wallet, which had been in his back pocket.
The man was offered a blanket at the police station but couldn’t provide any IDs as they were in his wallet.
However, it later turned out that the girls had left his belongings at the reception of the hotel where he was staying, but had of course left the premises themselves.
