I dont understand why people are expected to go on these talk shows and let the zealot host trod all over them and hang them up to display the host's point of view. And if you disagree or talk over the host, that means you have some sort of mental problem.

I find that zealots like Morgan are the ones with mental problems who I would absolutely not trust with a gun. The "peacenik" leftists are the ones you see making preposterous death threats around the internet. Someone like Jones who has been around guns his whole life and respects them are the people you want to have guns, because you know if they use them, there's a damn good reason.

because it's his show

If you go on his show - expect to be interviewed by Morgan - in his style and his agenda.

The guest acted like a blowhard, who didn't want to answer the host's questions. If you are not willing to be interviewed then don't go on the show.

And Yes - to me he came across as unstable and prone to a short temper - someone that I would not want to have a gun.

I am discussing this video and stating that Jones did not do any favours for his position on guns. I don't like P. Morgan as a host, but after viewing that video I was more on his side than Jones

style and agenda aside, if the host is not willing to let an opposing viewpoint even be presented in the context of an answer to a question the host asked, he's got some problems. especially when making preposterous assertions - he should expect to be challenged when he makes a preposterous claim! if giving an answer is cut off so that another question can be presented because ol piers didnt like that he wasnt receiving an answer he wanted to hear, so ok next question...I mean, really?

What interview did you watch? I saw a unstable blowhard avoid the pompous hosts questions again and again - he avoided the hosts questions and refused to accept stats that contridicted his stance. He easily talked for 75% of the interview and did nothing to get his point across.

Piers Morgan and Guests Discuss Shooting Alex Jones

“I don’t care what the justification is that you’re allowed in this country to own a semi-automatic weapon – much less a handgun. But what do you need a semi-automatic weapon for? The only reason I think you’d need it is, Piers, challenge Alex Jones to a boxing match, show up with a semi-automatic that you got legally and pop him.”

Abby Huntsman (Huffington Post) : “I’d love to see that… [laughter] in uniform.”

Piers Morgan: “I’ll borrow my brothers uniform.”

These are the fuckos I'd rather see without guns, obviously not responsible people.

ok so I went back and watched this again...

Morgan's line of questioning is very narrow, how many gun murders...asks about US, then asks about England. Doesnt want to talk about violent crime, percentages thereof wrt/ population. As if the entire context is 35 vs 11,000. Do you understand that 35 is less than 11,000? My god, banning guns is the answer!

The thing that gets me is people like piers HAVE to....they MUST...present a *very* narrow range of statistics in order for their views and conclusions to be valid and not utterly destroyed by reason and logic.

All I see Jones doing was expanding the context. Of course in an overly fiery manner, but still. Rhetorical question after rhetorical question coming out of morgan's mouth. He doesnt want to place this in any sort of larger context or framework, he just wants to ask questions to which the only acceptable answer to him is "guns are bad, mmkay."

Well the UK has the same number of people as the US so the numbers can be compared evenly ;)

FBD

 so I watched part 2, and who'da guessed that ol piers starts right in asking "so what weapon was used in these shootings" and "the last 3 mass murders have all used this weapon" (see the narrative being propagated) and then tries to go on saying gun crime is lower in britain than US, refusing to note the wider context of overall violence.

Jones makes a good point by saying I want to talk about the drugs these people are on, morgan asks him about 9/11 as an attempt to put him in the "loony sertes" category.

and there wound up being no part 3 because they were going to put jones on with some doctor, I forget who.

Ok - I just watched Part 2 - Alex still does not make any points - he is a rambling fool

Who would want to debate this guy? he doesn't listen and he is a he throws out "facts" - then turns around and disreagards the other persons "facts"

his stance on 9/11 and his mockery of piers's accent ... total asshat - his valid points are lost in his "act"

FBD
01-09-2013, 08:43 PM
*scratches head* do you simply not know anything of the points he's making or something? He made a bunch of valid points that piers wanted to avoid like the plague because they directly contradict the narrative he wanted to present on his show.

piers wanted to say "how many gun murders in UK....#....how many gun murders in US...#....now what weapon did the mass murderer use....x....ok, cant you see why these guns are a terrible thing?" The whole bait and lead was so silly and transparent - he started out by giving Jones a forum and then he wanted to disregard that forum and not let anything that was said penetrate into the actual q&a between them!

So basically right off the bat, Piers is forced to change the subject, because he let Jones set the table, as it were. If nothing else, just a testament to how utterly incompetent Morgan is.

Ok, so you want rational? How's about John Lott getting talked the fug over?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8C6Wkkabcbs

Nobody on the pro-gun control side is willing to put forth any semblance of a rational argument. (I hope my tone doesnt come across as spikey, I certainly dont mean it to be so :) )

"Since the Second Amendment did not create or grant any right concerning firearms, the right enumerated in the Amendment has to be an existing right separate from the Amendment. Thus, repealing the Second Amendment would not eliminate any right because the right enumerated in the Amendment was not created by the Amendment. The right to keep and bear arms exists independent of the Constitution or the Second Amendment."

Crimes reported per year:

United States: 11,877,218 (311 million residents) 1 in 28.27 people is victimized.
United Kingdom: 6,523,706 (53 million residents) 1 in 8.8 people is victimized.

You're totally out of context... The comparison is that in the UK she was victimized but lived and in the US she was shot.. DEAD.

The number of murders and killings in England and Wales has fallen to the lowest level in nearly 30 years, Office for National Statistics figures show.
