A teacher facing trial for having sex with a 15-year-old student is feared to have been planning to elope with him to Mexico.
Kathryn Murray, 29, was found with the teenager at her father's home despite a court order banning any contact.
The 29-year-old was ordered to surrender her passport when she appeared before a judge in Houston, Texas on Saturday.
Prosecutors fear she was on the verge of leaving the U.S. to start a new life in Mexico with the teenager.
Murray is due to go on trial later this year on four under-age sex charges and faces up to 20 years in jail.
She is accused of having sex with the boy at his home, in her classroom and a hotel. The middle school teacher was found with the boy, now aged 16, at the home she shares with her father in Houston.
Authorities said the teenager tried to sneak out of the house when police called. The boy, who has not been named, was listed as a runaway by his parents.
Murray was arrested and appeared before a judge to face a new charge of harboring a runaway. As the offence was a misdemeanor her bond was not revoked.
But school chiefs in Houston, Texas, called her behaviour 'despicable' and said she should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
Murray was arrested last February after police were told she was having sex with one of her 15-year- old students. The language arts teacher was accused of having sex with the teen in his bedroom while his parents were away.
An arrest report revealed that the boy's brother looked into his room and saw a tan bra and used condom on the floor.
The boy said he saw his brother in bed and the outline of a second person under the covers.
When the woman spoke he recognised her voice as that of Miss Murray from Memorial Middle School.
The teenager confessed to his mother that he had sex with his teacher and that he was 'in love' with her.
A subsequent police investigation revealed the pair had sex at a hotel on the night of a school dance and in her classroom in Memorial Middle School on two separate occasions.
Murray was released with a GPS ankle monitor and told to stay away from the student.
At the time the victim's parents lashed out at Murray.
'People like this should not be walking the streets, should not be close to our children,' Mrs Murray said.
'We are not good, we are very hurt. My son is really confused, hurt. We working with him very closely but he’s not good, not good at all.'
Murray was fired from her job last year but Spring Branch School District officials were so outraged by her arrest they released a statement.
'We feel that Ms Murray’s behaviour is despicable, and encourage the district attorney to prosecute Ms Murray to the fullest extent of the law,' it read.
