The Hound was definitely a character that put on airs for the sake of image. He wanted to protect Sansa from Joffrey, because he knew she was weak and he was a horrible monster. He did what he could where he could, but his station prevented him from doing more. He wanted to protect Arya for her own sake, because she wouldn't last on her own. He was abused by his older brother, and I suppose that we can say that that made him a little sympathetic to those that were abused or in danger. He didn't want to kill that kid in the first season, he did it because he had to.

The Huffington Post | By Bill Bradley

A serious reality check is coming.

While talking with TVLine about her new movie, "Heatstroke," Maisie Williams completely called out hardcore "Game of Thrones" book readers. Asked about the omission of Lady Stoneheart from Season 4 of the HBO show, the actress said:

That was a massive deal, but honestly, I really like it. I’m so sick of going on the Internet and seeing all the book readers being snobby, spoiling it for other people, then saying, 'Well, it’s not a spoiler. The books have been out for years.' Like, couldn’t you just stop being mad for a second and let other people enjoy the show?

Ouch. Maisie must be listening to Jon Snow because she definitely just stuck haters with the pointy end.

Williams went on to say that book readers have a right to feel an attachment to the original story, but they don't need to deride the show or its fans because it is different. She also said that insecurities about "not knowing what will happen next" may be the cause of their hostility.

It looks like some people should definitely be careful, or Arya may be adding a few more names to her bedtime list.

Oh wah! Book readers know what's coming next. Wah! We're illiterate dolts! Wah!!!! :wah:

The real reason book readers are upset over the Lady Stoneheart omission is because it's a really fucking cool part of the plot. People want to see what the show could do with her, what she'd look like. And she could be really important to the overall plot. No one knows how her story's gonna play out in the grand scheme of things because George hasn't finished the entire story. I hope he flips the finger to everybody and makes her kill everybody.

I finally looked at a GoT map and found out where everyone is. Good heavens Jorah is taking Tyrion on a long voyage in that little boat. Loved the Valyria scenes and area.

Kind of a personal mini-primer for the series - I didn't realize that the Mad King was Daenerys Targaryen's father. I knew the Mad King was killed by Jaimie Lannister. Before that Robert Baratheon led 'Robert's Rebellion' and killed the prince in the Targaryen family. Then Robert married Cersei, yet their three children came from Jamie.

So in my mind, Dany is the true heir to the Iron throne :-k

Yeah it was almost like Ramsay thought seeing Theon would hurt Sansa in some twisted way.

She probably thought GOOD, he's like a dog and fck him. I believe she thinks Theon killed her little brothers (Branflakes and whoever..) because Ramsay kept alluding to that.

I do love the choice that's being put to Jon Snow.

They've been fighting the Wildlings for decades and now that the white walkers are coming south, so it's either - Befriend the Wildlings or take the risk of having all of the Wildlings north of them turned into white walkers....so cool IMO

and did you notice that one kid they showed under the wagon and him speaking up to Jon privately? That's the kid that shot Ygritte..

Exactly....even being a bastard his lineage is close to families of kings...how about some reverence to the Stark name? Sounds like a shitty job and a raw deal to me.

For sure. I'll probably read the books when the series is done and I don't harbor ill will to people that have already read everything to date...

I wasn't enthralled with the season ender...seems like not much happened in 10 episodes.

recap:

I liked Ayra's segment.
Cercei's segment while embarrassing and uncomfortable, took up way to much screen time. What do those religious guys expect after releasing her back to the castle? That she'll forgive them???
Didn't care for Jon Snow getting killed by other members of the Night's Watch. They all know that war is coming from a much worse enemy, you need dudes and followers of those dudes...
Daenerys' dragon takes her to safety only to expire? And then Dany gets caught by 500 men on horseback? What scene did I miss in that sequence?
Stannis got a fitting end, not sure why half of his army (sell swords) left on the eve of a huge battle. Did I miss another scene?
The part with Sansa finally getting a candle lit at the exact time that Brienne just happened to step away from her weeks long vigil was contrived. I expect better from this show.
Next time we see Bran he'll be 37 years old?
Jamie's daughter acknowledging her incestuous lineage was nice, too bad she got killed after a 10 minute storyline.
Tyrion, Jorah and that other dude on the stairs was a nice camera shot...too bad they did absolutely nothing, some powerhouse characters there going to waste..

I agree it was a slow season.

Yea, John Snow dying pissed me off. I hope he comes back as a white walker and kills them all.

I don't know that the dragon is dead, and I assume that the horseback people are the former group she was "queen" of before the dude died?

I think half of Stannis's army left because he burned his own daughter at the stake and was using blood magic.

I thought the kiss of death was pretty predictable. Shame they keep killing off all the likable characters.

I liked this season, dunno why there is griping about it :dunno:

Jon Snow's death is no more shocking/tragic than any other main character on the show. It should have been a clue that either he (Snow) or Sam was going to die when they were having their little chat earlier in the finale and Sam told John not to worry, that he would be back.

Yeah, I don't think Drogon is dead, just wounded and tired after flying Dany to safety. As for the group on horseback, I have no idea whom they are because we really have no idea of knowing how far from Meereen that they flew.

I agree completely with Pony, Stannis' army deserted him because he burned his daughter alive. The look on their faces when it was happening showed they weren't on board with that at all.

As soon as the kiss happened when Jamie and his daughter were ready to set sail, I knew it was poison.

I had no problem with Brienne missing Sansa's signal, it just goes to show once again that revenge/vengeance is more important than duty in the GoT universe. Same thing happened when Arya killed what's-his-name in the prior episode. She abandoned her teachings for pure revenge.

I do not believe Stannis to be dead.
I think he told Brienne to 'do her duty' this would have made her think, instead of killing him, she would have went to find Sansa, as that was her duty now, not to avenge Renly.

Sansa and Theon will easily survive a fall into a fresh snow drift in a frozen moat. They know the castle, he chose that point on purpose.

Jon Snow isn't dead, he might go missing for a season, like Bran has done this season, then the Red Witch will bring him back, Thoros of Myr/Berric Dondarrion style.

Dany hasn't found her old people, she has found an entirely new Doraki hoard, there are lots of them, Drogos was the best when he was alive, but now there would be others. I think that was Drogo ring she dropped. I wouldn't be surprised if she married this Khal, rides back to Mereen, and from there takes her sellswords, unsullied, and her new Doraki over the sea to Westeros.

I think the ironborn will appear next season, back again, attack Mereen under Tyrions control, lose to the unsullied, and in doing so gift Dany all the ships she needs to sail to Westeros.

Bran will do some warging and shit.

Arya will learn how is it to be nobody while being blind.

We still won't get to see Sansa's tits.

Cersei wasn't let off all the other offences, she will have a trial to stand, no doubt she will chose trial by combat, and use her massive reincarnated hulk to smash anyone before her.
She will take the news of her daughter's death badly, and she hate Jamie and send him away from him.

-edit
GRRM will continue to eats pies like the big fat fucker he is, and might not get round to publishing the next book, even thought they claim it'll be next year, early next year, he will eat all the scripts along with his pies and become an even fatter shit.

In most of the plot points, yep. In other's, like Arya's blinding/training, they're a little behind. So I'd say for the most part, they're going to be writing the next season by themselves without referring to a source that has yet to be published. I'm sure Martin will have a say in what's going to happen, but it's going to be its own animal.

Stannis Baratheon is dead. Deader than a doornail. Food for worms.

As it stands they're selling Jon Snow as dead, but we don't know if he's going to stay that way. His POV and storyline is far too important to just throw away. A lot of people think that he's the Prince That Was Promised, the reembodiment of Azor Ahai, a theory that I agree with. In the books, he may be resurrected, we don't know yet, but the show has strayed away from the books on multiple plot points so nobody knows where that's going.

Rebecca Van Cleave appeared in one of the most infamous scenes in this season of "Game of Thrones," but you've probably never heard of her.

The actress was Lena Headey's nude body double in the scene where Headey's character, Cersei Lannister, does the "walk of shame" through town in her birthday suit.

"It was one of the scariest, most wonderful, most gratifying experiences I could have imagined," Van Cleave told Entertainment Weekly. "I never in a million years would have thought I would be in Dubrovnik surrounded by hundreds of extras and crew members throwing food at me, but it was amazing."

http://i.imgur.com/Z2pS4Nn.png

Headey donned a beige shift during the filming and after, Van Cleave would walk the same path but completely nude. CGI was used to combine the two shots, putting Headey's head on Van Cleave's body.

Van Cleave said Headey helped her through the filming process.

"Lena was so good about walking beside me and guiding me into what Cersei was thinking and the movements," Van Cleave told the mag. "We were playing tag team—‘You're it!'—and trying to make light of the fact we're all covered in everything and going through this together...The first time I took off the robe there was all this anticipation building up to it. But it's such an emotional experience for Cersei, you almost check out of the fact that you're nude. You're so in touch with the scene and what you're going for."

The body double said there were moments that were difficult over the three days of filming the six-minute long scene.

"Particularly moments when I got all kinds of stuff thrown at me, with the chamber pots [being dumped out]," Van Cleave says. "Then on the last day, there was a well of emotion when she's finally getting to the end and I was getting to the end too—not in a bad way, it's almost like being one with the character."

http://i.imgur.com/D2ieMhL.png

What did Van Cleave think of the final product when the episode aired?

"It was very surreal and emotional, to be honest," Van Cleave said. "I had a good little cry afterward...It's definitely the hardest thing I've ever done, but also the best experience of my life. And I hope the next thing I do will have my head in it!"

Van Cleave might have been happy with the way the scene turned out, but many viewers were quick to point out how obvious the editing was.

Ian McShane Joins Game Of Thrones Cast For Season 6

https://popculturehasaids.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/swearengen.jpg

According to Entertainment Weekly, Ian McShane has been cast in a mystery role. Let the speculation begin.

The show’s tight-lipped production will not reveal any details about McShane’s character, who’s coming on board for the most mysterious season yet. Thrones is preparing to dive headlong into narrative territory not yet revealed in author George R.R. Martin’s novels (and despite that opening sentence, McShane’s character could theoretically appear in Westeros or Essos or somewhere in between).

McShane is no stranger to fantasy storytelling and he’s one of the more high-profile actors to join the show: he was cast as Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, played Al Swearengen on Deadwood, King Silas Benjamin in the fantastically underrated show Kings and voiced Ragnar Sturlusson in the film adaptation of The Golden Compass.

According to EW, while McShane’s role won’t grant him a lot of airtime, it’s a critical one for the story.

The real question is: who’s he going to play?

How messed up would it be if Hodor knew what was going to happen on some level all along? Or would that be the ultimate kindness.. that he knew he would give his life in service to Bran, and still chose to go along with it anyway?

That's assuming Hodor was smart enough to be capable of that kind of reasoning.

Given what she's lost, and how Tommen betrayed her, I'd say she's pretty much dead inside. Maybe she's always been that way. Maybe she figures as she was being sworn in as Queen, that her brother's back and they can have more kids now.

I think most people regarded it as a rumor. Maybe Jamie only told his family?

I fucking love Arya. She made Frey eat his own kids and then slit his throat.

That wasn't such a subtle implication, having Ned hold Lyanna's baby and then cutting to Jon Snow's face.

Haha... Little Finger was wrong. I hate that guy. And Sansa looking at him after everybody in the room swears allegiance to the bastard that Little finger swore no one would stand behind. That was a fuck you look if I ever saw one.

Long may Queen Cersei reign? I don't think so. She's gonna get roasted alive.

I loved this past season. Battle of the Bastards, Winds of Winter...the whole Arya storyline becoming a badass assassin.

Just halfway through the books now and that's backwards to what usually happens for me. I usually read first, then see the movie or whatever. Kind of cool doing it this way as I can imagine where they are on the map as well as how certain characters look based on the TV show.

From the cold open with Arya killing all the male Freys (that are worth a damn) to the almost wordless ending when Dany gets to Dragonstone and announces "Shall we begin?" and it goes straight to credits, that was probably one of, if not the best season opening episode of GoT

It was horrible enough for me. A shocking scene, not at all what I intended. You see, I'd never seen the poison work before. Tell Cersei. I want her to know it was me."

Since they've determined the end point of the series, doesn't it feel like things are happening at light speed in comparison to past seasons?

ffs it took Dany over six seasons to travel across the Narrow Sea.
