You’ve been up since the crack of dawn and have arrived bleary-eyed and sleep-deprived at the airport, only to find your connecting flight is delayed. Like, way delayed. Your options are limited and probably include camping out near a wall so you can at least lean your head against it and catch a few z’s while you wait. Or would you be willing to pay $30 an hour to take a nap in a tiny room of your own?

A company called Minute Suites has been rolling out mini nap rooms in airports like Atlanta and Philadelphia, with plans in the works for Dallas-Fort Worth and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, reports NPR, so that weary travelers can rest their heads in private.

The rooms are about 7-by-8 feet and and are staffed by college students learning the hospitality trade. The first hour costs $30 and then travelers are billed in 15-minute increments. An overnight stay goes for $120 and only ticketed passengers can get a room.

You don’t have to sleep, of course, you can simply use the room to escape the shuffling masses out in the terminal. It’s not a totally new idea, as other airports overseas have similar set-ups that even include showers.

Although the close quarters might prove a bit stuffy for some travelers, others might welcome the chance to have some alone time, especially if they’re not at the level of say, having an airline’s club at their disposal.

I would make a comment about meeting women in the bars at airports, but really I'm married now and shouldn't go down that road..

what I don't like is that they're talking about long layovers...

so 30 bucks an hour isn't attractive for waits of 6, 7, 9 hours....9 hours is 270 bucks

hello Holiday Inn :)

It says overnight is $120... you'll pay that anywhere near Old Whore Airport.

I got my fickign Muddy glasses on today when reading

okay...so can you leave the terminal during a layover? If so, a real hotel room has got to be better with shower, toilet, no bustling crowds of 5000 right outside your walls...

Valid point... guess it depends on what's available, where, and how long you have.

I think the OP is a good idea though. Even for a quick :wank:

30 bucks for me to smoke a bowl without prying eyes would be worth it
