A teenager who struck a Boulder County Sheriff's Office patrol car as he left the 4/20 event at the University of Colorado this afternoon was under the influence of marijuana, Boulder police said.

Boulder police spokeswoman Kim Kobel said no one was injured in the crash, but the 17-year-old driver of a Pontiac Grand Prix was taken to Boulder Community Hospital because of "issues related to marijuana use."

The accident occurred at 3:43 p.m. at the intersection of Folsom Street and Colorado Avenue, near campus. Though the accident occurred before the scheduled time for the communal toke, Kobel said the teenager told police he had been at the event earlier and had smoked marijuana there.

The deputy whose vehicle was struck was directing 4/20-related traffic at the time of the crash and was not in his vehicle, Kobel said.

Boulder police plan to issue the teen -- who was not identified -- tickets for driving under the influence of drugs and reckless driving, Kobel said.
