Miss Delaware Teen USA Resigns After Porn Video Surfaces

Melissa King, who was crowned Miss Delaware Teen USA in November, reportedly resigned from her post today amid claims that she appeared in a pornographic movie shortly after her 18th birthday last year.

Gawker received an anonymous tip this morning that said a video originally found on the "real amateur girls" website GirlsDoPorn.com (NSFW, obviously) starred King. In the clip, a woman who resembles King says that she turned 18 three months ago—"In March"—before telling an off-camera interviewer that she decided to go into porn because she needed the money. The woman then says she participates in beauty pageants, though she doesn't reveal in which state she competes.

In a brief phone call with Gawker, the Miss Teen Delaware USA Appearance Coordinator, Elaine Paolo, would neither confirm nor deny that King has stepped down, saying she "needed more details." But if it is indeed King in the video, she would have made the GirlsDoPorn.com appearance around the time she won Miss Teen Delaware International 2012, the title she held immediately before winning Miss Teen Delaware USA.

In a documentary video about foster care in Delaware, King, having recently been crowned Miss Teen Delaware International, discusses her rise to pageant success after having been a foster kid from age 12 to age 18. King notes that depression and anxiety are common for foster children, adding that financial hardships made just being a normal teenager a struggle for her at times. As Miss Delaware Teen USA, King had vowed to dedicate some of her volunteer efforts to working with other foster children.

If her very recent social-media presence is any indication, it would appear that King had an inkling that her past was coming back to bite at her present. She tweeted this three days ago:

actually, let's look at the porn thing a little closer



the girl is videoed having sex with her full consent and paid for her actions....she knows that the segment will be sold or hit the net. Then a few months later she enters a mainstream competition and loses her title because of the porno. Then....she makes the tweet regarding how people's past actions shouldn't reflect on her current life, or by implication her beauty contest win.

It may have taken an unusually long time (over 24 hours!), but former Miss Delaware Teen USA Melissa King, who abdicated her throne this week following the emergence of a porn film allegedly starring her, has finally received her very first contract offer from an adult entertainment website.

However, unlike similar offers in the past, this one from YouPorn.com demands no nudity whatsoever in exchange for "a compensation package of over $250,000."

In an open letter to King [PDF], the company's marketing director Brandon Burns, introduces YouPorn as "one of the top websites in the world averaging over 15 million visitors a day."

He continues:

As far-fetched as it might seem for King to accept Burns' offer, she may actually be contemplating it.

Since resigning her crown on Tuesday, King has been tweeting nonstop, mostly words of support from her fans.

Some of these statements, however, appear to be not-so-veiled admissions that her participation in a GirlsDoPorn film (NSFW) is not-so-alleged after all.

"If a good person does a bad thing, it does not make them bad," King retweeted shortly after the scandal first broke.

"Everyone makes some bad decisions. Nobodies perfect!" she retweeted the following day. "Make mistakes, learn from them, and move on," King retweeted a bit later, before immediately following it up with "Everyone falls down but it's how they get back up that really matters."

A few hours ago, King posted perhaps her most revealing retweet yet: "Be strong, life has a funny way of working out. Kim K made it and now is one of the most powerful women in the US."

Whether or not King sees Kim Kardashian as a role model, there's no doubt she wants to walk a similar path.

"One day, she hopes to work for a prestigious fashion magazine in New York City," reads a passage from King's Miss Teen USA bio, "or maybe on the sidelines of an NFL game as a sports journalist."

The name of the game is exposure, and King currently has exposure coming out the wazoo. The infamy will fade, but will it give way to fame and fortune?
