he New Assassin's Creed 4 Reveal yesterday left a sour taste in PETA's mouth...

In Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, players will be able to engage in whaling, the practice of hunting, well, whales. Naturally, this got PETA's panties in a twist, as the animal rights protection group has called the game disgraceful.

PETA released a press release, which read:

"Whaling--that is, shooting whales with harpoons and leaving them to struggle for an hour or more before they die or are hacked apart while they are still alive--may seem like something out of history books, but this bloody industry still goes on today in the face of international condemnation, and it's disgraceful for any game to glorify it."

"PETA encourages video game companies to create games that celebrate animals--not games that promote hurting and killing them," the company also stated.

This isn't the first time that PETA has gone after the video game industry. In fact, the group is becoming notoriously famous for attacking the silliest detail in a game. In 2009, PETA urged members to log in to World of Warcraft to wage battle against seal hunters in Howling Fjord, where Horde players were clubbing baby seals to death in the game.

In 2011, PETA also launched an outcry over the Tanooki suit in Mario, claiming that because Tanukis are a real-life raccoon dog that are often beaten and skinned alive for their fur.

And, then PETA attacked the Call of Duty franchise for allowing the killing of dogs in their games.

PETA also protested the wildly popular Super Meat Boy developers, Team Meat, although the playable character is actually a human boy, not a slab of animal meat.

So, as you can see from the ridiculous claims from PETA, they're sort of a loose nut of a company. What's even more disturbing about them, is that they are attacking Assassin's Creed IV about whaling, yet they don't seem to have a problem with the piracy or assassinations! Great. Go have fun killing other humans, just leave our whales alone! Oh, PETA...PETA, PETA, PETA....

They complained about the Tanooki suit in Mario? Aren't they like 25 years late to that party?
