WAUSAU — An 18-year-old Mosinee woman accused of standing pantsless on a street corner after stealing steaks from a nearby grocery faces charges of resisting arrest and shoplifting.
Elizabeth A. Hoen was arrested at about 2 p.m. Friday after police received a call of a woman standing naked from the waist down in front of the former Rose Garden Banquet Center, 131 W. Thomas St., Lt. Michael Juedes said Monday.
Hoen, who was with an unidentified man, had put her pants back on and took off running with the man when police arrived, Juedes said. The man was not found, but officers took Hoen into custody after catching her and finding three beefsteaks from Kohlman and Lee’s Grocery, 735 S. Third Ave., in Hoen’s purse.
Officers determined the steaks had been stolen after talking with the store’s owner, who said he had not sold any steaks that day, Juedes said. The owner then showed officers security footage from the store, which showed Hoen and the man in the meat department.
Hoen has been charged twice with retail theft of less than $500, once in December and again in January, and in January she also was charged with resisting or obstructing an officer. She pleaded not guilty to all of those charges and has a bond hearing set for April 11, according to online court records.
