A former teacher at Northbrook High School has been accused of having sex with a teen who was a student at the school at the time and she now says the boy tried to extort money from her to stay quiet about their supposed relationship.

Kahtanna Culp, 29, is charged with improper relationship with a student, according to court records.

The documents state an investigation into the allegations against Culp came to light on Dec. 14 when she told the principal at the Spring Branch Independent School District campus about her relationship with the teen. She said she wanted to end it, but the boy did not want to and had threatened to go public with the information unless she paid him money, the documents state.

The principal alerted authorities.

When investigators interviewed the teen, who graduated in May, he told them he and Culp had sexual intercourse numerous times while he was a student and she was a teacher, the documents state. He also said he had lived at her apartment intermittently from the middle of April until the end of November.

The teen also stated, according to the documents, that Culp gave him and his friends marijuana. She had parties at her apartment, where he and his friends smoked marijuana, he added.

According to the documents, Culp refused to provide a voluntary statement about the case to investigators, saying she needed to seek legal counsel.

Culp was terminated Dec. 14.

"This kind of outrageous, illegal conduct will never be tolerated in this school district," SBISD Superintendent of Schools Duncan Klussmann said. "We will always aggressively investigate any allegation of impropriety by any teacher or any other employee, and we will take the strongest possible action against such employees when these allegations are proven true. Our first priority every day is the safety of every student. We will continue to work closely with law enforcement authorities and urge that if these allegations are true, this former employee be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

Culp started working at the school as a substitute in April 2012 and a full-time employee in August, school officials said.

Of course not, it's only the teacher's fault for being a predator :hand:

How silly of me. Clearly the student who wouldn't let her end it and threatens to expose her is a true victim. Where's RBP on this one?

Hello. Just because he didn't want to end it doesn't mean he wasn't victimized. It's not the case here, but Stockholm Syndrome is another example.

Now did he also break the law with the extortion? Maybe, not sure, but I doubt they'd prosecute a victim for his reaction to being victimized.
