Then I sign one petition sponsored by a group that openly hates Obama and a few weeks later I get a letter from the IRS asking about "why I dont have any cash sales listed on my form".. Well once it's done they wont come back again if they dont find anthing, we get visits from the tax and vat every few years, it's standard here... and random.

they used a tax preparer (someone in their lawyer's office) and this is how it played out

1. they filed 2 years ago
2. no word for over a calendar year
3. government says - you are being audited...16 months later
4. mistake was found and government charged my Dad interest on the faulty return ...for 16 months
5. Dad complained to gov...
6. Government now takes a special interest in him
7. tax preparer did nothing and offered nothing in the way of compensation
8. hal advised Dad to threaten tax preparer...
9. it's still up in the air as I write this

If your dad gave the tax preparer all the correct information and the taxes were filed incorrectly then your dad is not responsible for late fees/tax penalties. He's only responsible for the taxes he still owes.

That's how it works in the US anyways.

Yes, but I'm more cautious then most when it comes to the internet. No Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, online petitions or anything that has my real name on it.

I worked in computers before I went into banking so I know that once you hit "Send" you can never get it back. Pictures, opinions, your name/address, etc go off into the void and will stay there forever.
