TULSA, Okla.—Parents in Tulsa are furious after questions about a serial killer and a peeping tom end up on their children’s geometry assignment.
Christina Mattaliano said, “It references to serial killer Ted Bundy and some guy named Creepy John that watches his neighbors with a telescope.”
The homework was handed out by a substitute teacher at Nathan Hale High School in Tulsa.
One question that references Ted Bundy asks students to determine how far up a tree Bundy’s ladder reaches.
Another question references a man named Creepy John who wants students to figure out how far Creepy John’s apartment is from the neighbor’s house.
Mattaliano said, “I don’t know if he’s trying to be humorous or if maybe that’s some of his personal interests.”
The principal of the high school says the substitute teacher made the assignment.
That teacher told school officials that he wanted to engage students by getting their attention with colorful questions.
The substitute has been asked not to come back to that particular school but it is unclear if he will continue to work at other schools in the district.
