Ok so we put our guys through hell...carrying multitudes of boxes up flights of stairs, sending stuff to places with no truck access etc. We use a wide variety of couriers daily.
We sent this guy to a high profile client's place, no couriers allowed in the lobby of the building. Not even Fedex letter-mail deliveries. All inbound freight couriers use a hidden back elevator or the stairs. Our guy has 20 large cartons of paper to deliver, think - very heavy photocopy paper boxes.
He gets tired of waiting for the hidden freight elevator and sees a hand cart. Four wheels, about four feet long with a rail or handbar. He then sees an escalator in the posh lobby and decides he's going to load all 20 cartons onto the hand cart and scoot up the escalator quickly. He barely gets all of the cartons on the cart and then finds he can barely push it. So he asks another courier to help push the load over to the escalator, real quick-like.
They get the cart to the escalator, second courier runs away and our guy is behind the cart trying to look inconspicuous. It was one of those escalators that narrows as you go up, our guy has no idea. So the cart starts getting wedged in between the escalator handrail walls and the front starts tipping up. Simultaneously the escalator starts screeching and smoking, almost stopping and all of the cartons of paper fall backwards. They land on the courier, throwing him backwards down the escalator and the boxes themselves explode with loose paper everywhere when they hit the ground or the escalator stairs.
By this time the escalator has triggered an alarm, come to a full stop and smoke is coming out of it because of the grinding gears. And he's laying on the lobby floor covered in paper while security is screaming at him - DID YOU USE THE ESCALATOR FOR FREIGHT???!!! :x
and he's trying to say he works in the building and has no idea about the mess :rofl:
