IT'S a one-of-a-kind portrait, and it's smokin'!

Extreme hiker and landscape photographer Kawika Singson caught on fire in his bid to capture a unique portrait photo.

The staggering snap shows Singson's feet and tripod alight as he stands amid the intense heat of lava on top of a volcano in Hawaii. His shoes were completely destroyed by the flames.

Singson, who is based in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, often takes risky photos in locations that are difficult for the general public to access.

He wrote on Facebook about the lava snap: "I thought it would be pretty cool to take a lava pic with my shoes and tripod on fire.

"It was really hot. I could stand the heat only for a few seconds."

He said it's the first time his clothes or equipment have caught on fire while photographing near lava.

The photo was taken on July 4, but Singson won't reveal the exact location, saying it was a secret and "I don't want people to go there and get hurt".

That photo has gotta be fake....no way you could stand somewhere hot enough to catch your shoe on fire, yet your foot be cool enough to just stand there and take pictures.
