For the thrill-seeker in search of the ultimate white-knuckle ride, this takes some beating.

Dangling 400m (1,300ft) above the Colorado River, you are swung through the air at 50mph.

Don’t look to owner Steve Beckley for help, he has only tried the Giant Canyon Swing once – and he makes sure you sign a waiver stating ‘falls, injuries and/or death may result from engaging in the activity’.

Oh… and it’s actually 800km (500 miles) from the the Grand Canyon, but that’s the last thing on your mind in mid-air.

Mr Beckley, 41, decided that a previous version of the ride at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, Colorado, was not ‘extreme’ enough. ‘It’s pneumatic-ally powered and much faster, so it’s definitely a bigger adrenaline rush,’ he explained.

‘People usually scream when they’re riding it, so first-timers hear that as they’re walking up to the ride.

‘Then when they see the drop-off down into the canyon, they’re either thrilled or terrified, and sometimes both.

‘It’s a lot of fun just to watch people ride, see their faces and hear them scream and laugh.’

Or, as one terrified fan put it: ‘Seven words to describe this swing: The. Scariest. Ride. I. Have. Ever. Done.’

it's like when I bungee jumped....you probably have to sign a 10 page waiver stating that it's not the fault of the equipment, the operators, the wind, the birds etc...even when it is.

After thinking about it, it's just a swing. Big deal. Give me something that you have to be strapped into, that shakes you around and dangles you upside down while going 100mph over that chasm.

Fuck it, sling shot people into the canyon and set up a net at the bottom to catch them in.

make a large U shaped swing and harness the people in upside down and then throw them out over the canyon...

at least no one has to clean up barf under that ride
