Jennifer Lawrence is struggling with one particular aspect of fame: being famous.

"If I were just your average 23-year-old girl, and I called the police to say that there were strange men sleeping on my lawn and following me to Starbucks, they would leap into action," Lawrence says in the September issue of Vogue. "But because I am a famous person, well, sorry, ma'am, there's nothing we can do. It makes no sense."

But fame will only continue to grow for the actress, who turns 23 Aug. 15: She again stars as gritty heroine Katniss Everdeen in Catching Fire, the second installment of The Hunger Games trilogy out in November, and she reunited with her Silver Linings Playbook director David O. Russell and costars Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro to film American Hustle, scheduled for release Dec. 25.

Lawrence then gets blue (skinned, that is), as supervillain Mystique in the fifth installment of X-Men due out May 2014.

But the actress lays down the law when people tell her she has to "make peace" with fame.

"I am just not OK with it," she says. "It's as simple as that. I am just a normal girl and a human being, and I haven't been in this long enough to feel like this is my new normal. I'm not going to find peace with it."

And if the next blockbuster comes along and Lawrence isn't headlining it, she says she'll look forward to that new normal.

"It still makes me a little emotional, just to see how quickly everything kind of changes. So I've kind of been a big homebody lately," Lawrence says. "But I think eventually, one of these days, I guess when the next franchise starts and I'm not in it, and the new Jennifer Lawrence is born, then I'll be able to go outside."
