Police say five people, including a toddler, have been slashed or stabbed by a man who went on a rampage with scissors on a bike path near the Hudson River in New York City.
The suspect was in custody Tuesday. Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly says he appeared to be homeless and emotionally disturbed.
Kelly says all of the victims are expected to survive, though a woman in her 30s is in critical condition. The youngest victim is 1 year old.
Two victims were wearing jogging clothes.
The attacks happened around 8 a.m. in Manhattan's Riverside Park near West 65th street.
Witnesses heard screaming and a child crying. Police came and grabbed the attacker.
Yellow police tape and park security closed access to the path for a 20-block stretch.
