A La Crosse man climbed a downtown tree early Saturday and tore a limb for its trunk, telling officers he was "paying the tree back," according to police reports.
Officers found a crowd gathered outside Qdoba, 127 S. Third St., about 3 a.m. and Mitchel Pfaff, 25, up the tree. Pfaff said he sought revenge on the tree because his friend two or three years ago fell from it and cracked his head open, reports stated.
Pfaff was given a $240 ticket for damage to property and $177 ticket for disorderly conduct. He's due in La Crosse Municipal Court on Nov. 27.
