Was it a case of mistaken identity?
Justin Bieber tweeted that he met the President of Mexico Monday just before performing a concert at Foro Sol in Mexico City.
"Just met some amazing Mexican beliebers and the president of mexico and his familia. Now its showtime. 60,000 tonight. Te amo," he wrote.
But it looks like the Biebs didn't actually meet who he thought and is now backtracking his story—not to mention, deleting the original tweet.
President Enrique Pena Nieto's office took to Twitter shortly after being told of the tweet and explained that the meeting never took place.
And not that the "PYD" singer is one to get embarrassed, Biebs immediately addressed reports Tuesday morning.

"*correction. I met the presidente's family and all their friends in the private meet and greet with security. They were very nice," he wrote to fans.
"A lot of things get said about me. So many things not true," the pop star added. "And it hurts especially that people believe it. But I got all of u…I'm built for this. It's all gonna be alright."
According to a source, it turns out that Beiber had thought he had met the president after being told Nieto was going to be among the group in the private meet and greet.
Biebs has two more concerts lined up in the country and is then headed to the Australian leg of his worldwide Believe tour where he will wrap up on Dec. 8 in Perth.
Just in time to be home for the holidays!
