A drug dealer who supplied heroin with a street value of £20m over a two-year period has been jailed for 16 years.

Rico Walker, 32, from Easton in Bristol, was found guilty of conspiracy to supply heroin by a jury at the city's crown court.

The court heard he had supplied 400kg of heroin around the UK in two years.

Charmaine McLeod, 35, was jailed for five years and eight months and Saima Clarke, 22, for five years as part of the same investigation.

Clarke was found guilty while McLeod pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing.

In sentencing Walker, Judge Martin Picton said: "The scale of your endeavour was breathtaking. Your motivation is money in a drug which ruins lives."

Walker was arrested in January after police raided a property in Sevier Street, Bristol. They discovered heroin and drug cutting agents.

Officers seized thousands of pounds worth of designer clothing including baseball caps worth £2,000 each.

At Clarke's address police found items used for drug cutting and a box for a type of hydraulic press commonly used for compressing blocks of Class A drugs.

In 2007 a jury at Bristol Crown Court cleared Walker of the murder of teenager Dean Myles from London, who was shot dead in a Bristol nightclub in 2006.
