WINTERPORT, Maine — Police said that a woman hit her husband in the forehead with a spatula Sunday morning, leading to her arrest on a charge of domestic violence assault.
Sophie Guite, 19, of Winterport had texted her friend that morning to say that she had been assaulted by her husband, according to Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office. The friend called police and Deputy Darrin Moody went to the residence to see what was going on. He spoke to Guite’s husband and her brother, who also was in the house.
“In talking with everybody at the scene, it was determined she was the predominant aggressor,” Trafton said Monday afternoon. “She had struck her husband in the forehead with a spatula, leaving marks. Nobody was very forthcoming about why.”
Guite was charged and taken into custody, he said.
A Waldo County Jail official said that Guite was released from jail this week after paying $400 unsecured bail.
