SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) -

The Dorchester County Coroner's office has identified the body of a man who was found cut up in three bags Tuesday night in Summerville.

According to the coroner's office, the body belonged to 54-year-old Roy Steward of Bacons Bridge Road.

Officials with the Summerville Police Department say it all started on Jan. 14 when they were told of a missing person from Creekside Mobile Home Park located on 1926 Bacons Bridge Rd. Authorities say the caller was Steward's brother from Texas.

Police officials say during the investigation for the missing person, a roommate provided false statements to investigators involving the circumstances of the incident, and warrants were issued for obstruction of justice.

A police report states the roommate was identified as 53-year-old Nancy Bently.

According to investigators, during the course of the investigation a vehicle driven by Bently was located on Tuesday. Police say the car was seized by Dorchester County deputies after authorities say Bently was pulled over for driving erratically.

Summerville police say they later searched the vehicle and found three black trash bags with body parts in each bag.

The coroner's office was able to identify Steward's body by tattoos and other attributes that were revealed to authorities by his brother.

Officers located and arrested Bently on Wednesday.
