SUNGKAI - The two students of a Chinese- type school who were forced to eat grass by their teacher as a punishment for failing to complete their homework resumed schooling this morning. The students were sent to the school by their respective mothers at 7am.

One of the student's mother, who lodged a police report on Friday, alleged the teacher had punished the students by putting bells around their necks.

She also claimed the teacher, who teaches English Language, had handed the students grass during the school's recess hour.

Yesterday, Education Director-General Datuk Dr. Khair Mohamad Yusof had said the ministry, after probing the matter, found that the teacher from SJKC Khai Meng, Sungkai, Perak, had punished the students excessively as failure to do homework was not a disciplinary offence.

He said the teacher will be transferred to another school soon.
