God knows we're no friends of Vladimir Putin and the Russians' iron hand over here, but there is nothing more annoying than a whiny bunch of Eurasian Islamists with a big wish list.
An offshoot of the Caucasus Emirate, an Islamist group in the war-torn Chechen region that's been loosely associated with Al Qaeda, called for followers Monday to pray for a deadly earthquake to strike the Winter Olympics in Sochi, to punish Russia for its killings of Muslims.
Here's the group's bombastic written appeal, per Reuters:
"All who are able to read this letter can supplicate that the Almighty destroys the land in Sochi with an earthquake, and makes the infidels 'drunk of water' before Hell and drown in a flood!," said the appeal posted online on Monday.
"The Games of the atheists and pagans! The pigs are so arrogant that they decided to host the Games on the ground where our ancestors shed their blood to defend Islam and Muslims. Even the blind can see it!"
Previously, the group had called for terrorist attacks against Sochi, and the pucker factor at these Games has been high.
To be fair, the Russians have long been some real sumbitches in the region, first driving out and killing off the Circassians who had originally settled the Sochi area, and most recently in two bloody wars to keep control over Chechnya and its volatile North Caucasus environs. Hence the Emirate's entreaties to Allah to blot out the Olympians' "Satanic dances" on Muslim graves:
"We know how the Russian infidels - those who we have been fighting for centuries in the Caucasus - have become arrogant and decided to hold the Satanic Games on the ground of the companions who brought Islam," said the new appeal, issued by the Ingushetia media branch of the Caucasus Emirate.
"May Allah give the infidels in Sochi the last earthquake of their lives," it said.
As angry terrorist rants go, I give it a 5.9 for style, but I suspect the Russian judges will mark them down on technical proficiency.
