STAMFORD — A 72-year-old substitute teacher at Westhill High School was arrested Wednesday for allegedly masturbating in a school hallway, according to police.
Michael Luecke was charged with public indecency, breach of peace and risk of injury to a minor.
According to police, Luecke was discovered about 7:33 a.m. by a school paraprofessional, who walked by an out cove in the hallway and saw a man on the ground. Thinking the man was hurt, the woman approached him and saw that the man's hand was in his pants "manipulating his penis," police said.
The woman immediately notified school officials. They identified the man as Luecke and removed him from the class he was overseeing, police said.
School surveillance video shows Luecke in a stairwell just prior to his discovery "suspiciously manipulating the front of his pants while looking at students in the courtyard," police said. Luecke then disappears behind a bank of student lockers for a minute, then emerges and lies on his back on the floor, which is where the paraprofessional found him, according to police.
In the video, six students are seen passing Luecke's location while he masturbates, police said. Police and school officials are working to identify these students to assess a need for counseling.
Luecke has no prior criminal convictions, according to court records.
