I don"t really have an issue with the build quality of HP PCs, for the most part it's all the same hardware inside, I just hate all the driver issues and other proprietary crap. Just like any other brand, you get what you pay for.

BTW, My bro-in-laws brand new rig was running using 100% of resources the second day he owned it. Also was showing two of everything in the processes menu. He rebooted and waited,and waited then a screen popped up saying "C" has been formatted and computer recovered from backup. :-s

WTF? No error messages, warnings or anything. HP just decided on it's own it needed to be wiped and recovered back to factory. What if that had been a year old PC with irreplaceable photos, etc. on it?

Apparently after the automatic recovery he's still having issues, that's why I've been pushing him to return it and let me pick out something else for him in the $400 range.

He's also gonna need a laptop. I'm gonna see if he would like to go with a refurbished off lease for a couple hundred and put the rest toward a laptop.

Wow, today was one of those all too rare perfect days.
Good last day of training, had a nice last bit of time with my Mom, on the way home, called my daughter and told her is was time for a Daddy/Daughter night. Picked her up, and we originally went to Texas Roadhouse to have some steaks. The wait line was a hour plus, so we jumped back in the truck and just drove.Wound up at another steakhouse in a different town. Had a great dinner, but more importantly, spent 3 hours together, just me and her, no phone, no internet, no books, just talked about everything under the sun.
Days like this make all the other BS worthwhile.

turned it on, the windows logo splash came up, then black screen with a movable cursor only. I thought I had fried my graphics chip. Turns out it was just doing the dual desktop scenario and extending it to the TV :doh:

Sometimes the little things trip me up. I was having bad issues with my cursor lagging and jumping all over the screen, I changed the batteries, cleaned the mousepad, even switched the usb dongle to different ports.

This year is different though, we've been getting snow every 3-5 days and arctic cold in between. There are road salt shortages already and it's only Feb.

simple conversion method is double the C value and add about 30 or 32......4C = 40F

They might get one step before their aging tendons collapse them into a heap on the floor, but that’s what dogs are. They walk.

It’s not that they dislike your company. On the contrary, a walk with you is all there is. Their boss, and the cacaphonic symphony of odor that the world is. Cat poop, another dog’s mark, a rotting chicken bone ( exultation), and you. That’s what makes their world perfect, and in a perfect world death has no place.

However, dogs get very very sleepy. That’s the thing, you see. They don’t teach you that at the fancy university where they explain about quarks, gluons, and Keynesian economics. They know so much they forget that dogs never die. It’s a shame, really. Dogs have so much to offer and people just talk a lot.

When you think your dog has died, it has just fallen asleep in your heart. And by the way, it is wagging it’s tail madly, you see, and that’s why your chest hurts so much and you cry all the time. Reminded me of the dog that I had as a kid. She'd saved my brother from hitting a train but didn't quite get out of the way in time herself and the train just grazed her backside. Things dislocated, dad paid for operations and she came out of it OK but embarrassed to show her hindquarters, as the hair hadn't grown back, and wasn't doing so. She was OK when the family was around, but when guests came she'd scoot under the dining room table.

A few months thereafter her back leg dislocated again and she then was in obvious pain, so the hard decision was made to have her put down. I was barely 3 years old but the 1 thing I do remember about this is seeing my dad come in crying, which he never did. He later told me that he'd kept it together but as soon as he was driving in the driveway an "oldie" from the 50's came on the radio - Buddy Holly's "Think it Over"
