1) Letting your animals roam free violates the leash law in the county. It says all pets must be constantly and continuously under the control of their owners and cannot be allowed to roam free.

2) The cat doesn't have a collar and thus no id tag.

3) It hangs out in my yard more than any others and nobody knows who she belongs to.

4) It doesn't look like the cat has had it's claws trimmed in a little while.

The problem in my area is that there are a high number of feral and stray animals. We have a ridiculously high number of feral cats. I'm not even gonna talk about the stray dogs around my area. I call animal control at least once a week. There are razorback pigs in the woods behind my house and they come out every summer. There's a river not too far from my house and gators are always around, not to mention the land and water snakes native to the area, including the Eastern Diamondback and Coral snakes. It's very literally wild discovery down here. I wouldn't be surprised if a bear or a panther walked out of the woods behind my house. This sweet, people friendly cat that's been visiting my yard doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of surviving against any of them. That and the entire place is nothing but highways. She can get hit by a car at any moment. And I wouldn't put it past people to hit a free-roaming cat intentionally. People are just shit and if she enters the wrong yard, woe be to her.

Letting a house cat outside down here is incredibly irresponsible.

My boss is listening to an interview with T Boone Pickens about the oil market and the mess in Iraq. He just mentioned an awesome idea. Why don't the United States, Canada, and Mexico form a group to compete with OPEC (he called it the North American Energy Alliance).

Lance, we had a house blow up about a mile from us years ago. Gas leak was the cause and it looked very similar to your pictures.

The neighbors came home to find a pair of legs sticking down through their ceiling. It was the guy who owned the house that blew up. Threw him into the neighbor's house and left his body hanging :(

Good point. I'm a definite believer in these. And get one that has a counter that will retain any events it records in your absence - the ones with an LCD display. They are about $20 more but it probably saved me from having something go ka-boom.

When I bought my place I got one of these...and right after installing it it went off -- thought it was a fault but called the gas company anyway and sure enough I had a sizeable leak.

He said that it often happens -- a house is vacated and low pressure is through the pipes. Then when it's reoccupied the pressure goes up and fittings and valves fail on old houses.
