I personally don't give a damn what our president's skin color is, I just think he should have military experience, foreign diplomacy experience, knowledge of and respect for the Constitution, knowledge of business and economics, and an IQ greater than a tadpole's.

I was trying to explain the significance of not leaving a residual force in Iraq earlier tonight.

I was asked, "so you think we pulled out too soon?"

I responded, "basically our pull out was ass to mouth"

Her: *blank stare* *contemplation* "that makes sense, I get your point"

It's a fact that instant ramen is cheap. Maybe that's why businesses are considered "ramen-profitable" when they are taking in more money than they are spending. And since it usually costs the consumer about 13 cents a package (depending on where they live), it will only cost you $142.65 dollars a year if you decide to live off of it. To put this in perspective: The average American spends $7,852 on food a year.

Went to Five Guys for the first time over the weekend. Two thoughts: it was a million times better than when I went to In N Out when I was in San Francisco. And: it is WAY expensive for fast food burgers and fries, no matter how good it was. We went there after the kid's soccer game on Saturday afternoon and for the three of us it was almost $33.

" the weird thing about this coaster is that it seats 4 wide and there are wheels that run along the outside of the track, so stepping off the ladder onto the track there is like a 2 and a half foot gap, and at over 150 feet, feels like its a goddam quarter mile...I musta checked my harness like 4 times every time I crossed it..."

and I was laughing at my family, saying you all would have bet *I* would have been the one dangling from preposterous heights for a job

he'll be supervising its reconstruction in a couple months....in Vietnam!

these fuggin idiots decided it'd be a great idea to have Hard Rock amusement park.... so after paying umpteen million billion dollars for franchising and what not, well, let's just charge more to make up for that.... it was like 60 bucks a person/day. they failed after a year. the new folks that bought it had this great idea, hell with the franchinsing....and spent umpteen millions removing all of the Hard Rock shit from the place...and promptly went under after a year of operation, just like the first.

so I was sitting in church a couple of weeks ago and listening to the speaker...(we don't have ministers at our place)

and I started to get this sense of relief. Atheists can throw all the barbs and arrows and stones they want against me for my faith, but at least I've never felt pressured to kill hundreds of innocents or behead people that don't agree with my personal belief about life.....

the speaker was talking about acceptance...notsomuch turning the other cheek/agreeing with people who hurt others...just plain old acceptance that we're not perfect. Try to be better within our own lives, but don't look down upon others who don't agree with our personal standards...

I guess I fail because each time I read about Islamic extremists I get this weird sense that I should be somehow cleansing the earth of these scum, because their message is corrupt and no good will come from it...

Just remembered, i got called "the good looking one" today at work by a customer

Just a pity he was male  Funny as fuck though!

The guy had phoned earlier and old Alan had told him to come in and ask for me, so he arrives, Ian (the other estimator........ who is now off on holiday, the bastard :x ) was down the front of the workshop and i was up the back - Alan greets him near the workshop door and calls for me......... then i hear him say "or Ian, he does estimates too" (pointing to Ian) just as i'm walking over.......... then the customer says "I'll take the good looking one" (pointing at me) Probably in his mid/late 50s, don't think he was gay  So........ for the rest of the afternoon i renamed Ian "The ugly one"

Why is it when there is a construction project on the interstate, they set up the cones to close the lane(s) 3 or 4 miles away from where they are working?

And sometimes 3-4 days before they even start. More cones = more union jobs?

Teh One Who Knocks
09-24-2014, 11:19 AM
There's a massive construction project on a section of I-25 that I drive every morning (it's mostly an overnight work type project so they don't snarl traffic during the day) and no matter what they are doing, they set the cones up to narrow it down from 3 lanes to 1 lane at least 3 miles from where ever they are working on the highway. It's crazy.

And I can only play that part

shitfuck....I got rear ended on the way home from work tonight :| Nothing horrible, barely felt it and can't see any damage. Guy behind me made a big deal of shrugging his shoulders, yet he was riding my ass pretty closely. The traffic was so tight he may have even got nudged from behind as well.Driving through some brutal rush hour traffic and couldn't stop for a few blocks. Finally I said fuck it, stopped my car in the middle of traffic and got our for a quick peek. Looked good so I gave the guy the thumbs up...dude must have weighed 350 lbs and didn't get out of his car when I got out of mine...I think he was scared because I ejected so quickly  Got his plate number too...heh heh heh

My sister is pretty high up the management chain. She gets sent to the yearly team building seminar. 100 people from her company, 3 nights posh accommodation/food and an activity...

She opted out of this year's activity. It was instructions, then an afternoon at a gun range

So she says no thanks, and gets treated pretty badly during the afternoon. (she's a non gun person like her younger brother..)

During the actual shooting, one employee's gun jams...I guess he starts hitting it against the podium. Then he steps back from his little cubicle, trying to work the gun while pointing it at the floor. The two instructors are busy with some younger girls at either end of the range while this is happening. My sis takes out her phone and snaps a pic, right when the idiot has stepped back from his partition and is waving his gun around the non protected area of the range. Finally the instructors see what's happening and stop the moron...

After the gun range, they have a summary meeting and one of the senior managers makes a big deal over my sister opting out of the activity. She's a smart girl....and not shy  The theme of the conference this year was cost cutting...along with the underlying theme of team building.

The guy is putting her on the hot seat and my sis...in all her glory...interrupts the blowhard and says -

Number one....you've just sent 100 people from all over the country, to one of the most expensive hotels in Vancouver for 3 days and our theme this year was cost effectiveness.

Number two...you have then chosen an activity that does nothing to encourage camaraderie or teambuilding, it's a singular activity and live firearms are involved. Furthermore, I have a picture of how this year's conference encouraged team building - and she shows the pic  It shows at least two employees cowering looking at the guy playing with his gun and one other guy near the edge of the frame whose eyes are like this

Then she says - I have a suggestion for next year. How about an afternoon of pizza and glow in the dark bowling? By my calculations it will cost approximately 10500 dollars less.. and everyone will come home alive after the conference.

  I love my sister

I used to be decent, my parents have an 8ft slate table in the basement. but its had a ping pong table on it for yeeeeeears.

too bad I didnt get to play more ping pong when my brother was around. I still want to play someone "good"...but the only weird thing is I am just used to an 8foot ceiling with a light for the pool table hanging down a bit (and house rules, in play) so a lot of the vollies I wind up seeing on TV where they get way far away from the table, I wouldnt have much experience with, down there I dont have the chance to get more than maybe 5 feet from the table.

fuggin pool. I like pool. but cripes I could NOT watch that on a tv

snooker....hit a red ball down then any one of 6 colored balls for points....when all the reds are gone, you have to shoot the coloreds in order (bad choice of words  )

8-ball - shoot either stripes or solids, then the 8 ball which is black after all of your stripes or solids are downed

billiards - all same colored balls....now we're talking about pockets and skill

Some say it's better but I say it ain't
I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints
Sinners are much more fun...

3 or 6 solderpoints for every single one ;)

that's what I've spent my last couple weeks on, those 4 patch panels and the 35 pin Pantion connectors for the ones that go to the board, and for stuff that goes elsewhere, I have a bigass bag of 1/4"trs ends that I have been making my way through.

still waiting on a 48 channel patch patch for the XLR mic inputs. I also have an aluminum plate I'm using to run the drum snakes to, gotta wire that up when it comes back from cuttin'....haha....actually Swayback offered to print something on it, so I will have to think of something badass

I bet that is a blast to troubleshoot when you screw one up
Any of the screwups, I caught right away, like....jeez, why did I skip a row of these solders? and accidentally soldering to the inside not the outside rows on the pantion connectors a couple times. but that stuff happens when you're well buzzed

at this point I know everything's good....now I just gotta go test a couple out because I didnt label the insert loops correctly, so I just have to double check to make sure what's plugged into the board corresponds to the logical layout of the patch panels. (but they are soldered on the connectors correctly, its just a matter of making sure my 1-12, 13-24, out, in goes where it should. the other stuff was less ambiguous...and I didnt write things like "17" on two different P connectors   )

I bet your neighbors just love you..

hehehe... bars and shit are our neighbors down there. I live a half mile up the hill, so my neighbors are spared :D in the studio we can do full volume 24 hours a day and nobody's gonna care!

In his most competitive race of 2001, he suffered a violent accident at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz on 15 September. Zanardi started from the back of the grid and was gaining ground on his rivals. The crash occurred while Zanardi was leading the race in the closing laps. After a late pit stop, Zanardi was attempting to merge back onto the track when he accelerated abruptly and spun into the path of Patrick Carpentier. Carpentier was able to avoid him, but Alex Tagliani, who was just behind Carpentier at the time, could not and Zanardi's car was impacted from the side, behind the front wheel, severing the nose of the car.[11] Zanardi lost both legs (one at and one above the knee) in the impact and nearly three-quarters of his blood volume, though rapid medical intervention saved his life. Further portions of his legs were amputated during three hours of surgery to clean and facilitate closing the wounds.[12] This was the end of his open-wheel racing career.

yeah, that sucked, but he basically said "fuck that bollocks" and carried on racing albeit in a lower series, won gold medals in the paralympics and and amongst other things finished just outside the top 10% of all athletes taking part in an ironman event
