Last time i saw RHCP was the year Johnny Ramone died (Frusciante phoned him while onstage and the crowd all shouted get well soon Johnny.......... get well soon messages don't seem to work on cancer), their last few albums have been shite! Plus Frusciante isn't with them anymore so i'm not really interested in going to see them again......... although they were a fucking great live band! The Foo's, i actually only got into them when they were playing at Big Day Out in the Green at Glasgow Green in either 2001 or 2003, fucking great live band :rockon: Good line-up that day tbh, single stage, 6 acts, Chilis, Foo's, Queens of Stone Age, Electric 6 plus 2 others i was too stoned and drunk to remember seeing :lol:

This dvd is probably very alarming to those unfamiliar with the Genitorturers, and likely a little disappointing to those who have been long-time fans and show-comers (no pun intended!). The viewer gets a glimpse into the dark, perverse carnival world of a Genitorturer show, but its a rather kaleidoscope-ish view, making it a little frustrating that you can't view more clearly what is going on. Others have said here that the sound quality is poor and I agree, and that the jerky video quality is frustrating, and I agree, but what we're talking about here is an important video document in the career of a band, who's notoreity is eclipsed only by, maybe, G.G. Allen (and I'd prefer the Genitorturers any day, myself).

Having been a Gen fan since '98 (attended my first Geni's show at the Galaxy Club in Dallas)I have seen the explicit nature of their live performances dwindle over the years (6 shows now and counting...)and it's no doubt due to the wider spread notoreity of the band and their on-stage antics, resulting in a greater likelihood that law enforcement would invite themselves in rather unexpectedly and shut the whole evening down, resulting in arrests and all the resulting club owner legal woes. I have seen some splendid shows since '98 and I regret that club owners across the country have become cautious of the band and have imposed some of the "limitations" that resulted in the slight "taming" of the show.
The "Society..." dvd's greatest value is purely from a Genitorturer fan's desire to collect anything by them, and I agree with what has been said by others regarding the poor video/audio quality, etc., etc., but the good news is that the band are preparing both a new cd AND a new dvd which, according to their newsletters/MySpace page, will be released soon. I would recommend owning "Society..." if you are a true fan of Gen and the band, simply as a historical document of a groundbreaking band's career.

I work in transportation, there is a sever shortage of long haul drivers. Just last year it was around $4000 to move a trailer cross country (when gas was high) That same carrier is now charging close to $8000 for the same move in some cases

Took part in something nice yesterday. They had a Christmas party at the home where my Mom is at. She's in a locked down ward for people with dementia, people who need full time care, cancer patients close to death...it's a pretty grim environment usually.

The entertainment was a two person group called Sox n Sax....an old guy playing guitar (in his red and green socks) and a lady playing the sax and flute. They played for over an hour straight and were quite good. The guy had to be in his late 70's at least...


The staff got up and danced and then an amazing thing happened. Some of the patients danced as well. This one Asian lady in a wheelchair was helped up and she danced...an old guy who looked just like the 'Old guy with canes' from Youtube danced a few times and some of the patients were singing along to portions of the songs.

The recreation director got up at one point and thanked everyone for organizing the party...and then she started crying thanking the patients and relatives for coming out. Apparently it was the biggest turn out they've ever had at the care center. My Mom was tapping her toes throughout and yours truly danced with two of the nurses and a couple of older patients.

Something amazing happened which is a little serious as usual, when I talk about this subject. Part of my Mom's problem is that she's completely forgotten who my Dad is. At times here at home she's been too frightened to go to bed and would start arguments with my father about him leaving the house...or her leaving the house...

Yesterday she gave him a big hug and a kiss before we left, she was totally lucid and knew he was her husband...my brother and I stood there in her little room almost in tears.


It was a good afternoon until I was leaving, getting on the elevator and my Mom gave me this weird imploring look...mixed with something that looked like resignation and understanding that she had to stay there :( She always asks everyone who visits her - When do I get to go home? ...which is normal for people with this affliction. Yesterday she didn't ask..

We had a large dinner at my brother's place earlier this week, turkey and whole nine...my cousin and his 3 kids were there. It was very good.
Just me and my Pa today...we visited my Moms for a couple of hours then returned home and I cooked a ham, made some noodles and and threw together a ghetto salad. Brother and sis are traveling the country so didn't get to see them or their fam damilies. It's been quiet

Yeah, it sucks how much taxes they take out when you work OT or get unpaid time added to your check. When I got my Christmas bonus 2 weeks ago, it was put into my paycheck and because of the extra taxes, I barely got half of my bonus :|

We run everything thru ADP Payroll, it would be a whopping extra $71 to run a separate set of checks.

It's ridiculous, especially with the amount of money she wastes on bullshit, but it's too expensive to run a separate set of checks for bonuses and vacation payout :roll:

I would think its a waste of money to use a payroll service anyway.. The govt. gives out simple flyers on how to do it and collect taxes.. My wife did payroll for a lawyer one time and no one taught her how to do it.. She just did some simple online searches to get the ball rolling.

For $71 they cut the checks, ship the checks, deduct and pay the taxes, and take care of all the paperwork. It's cheaper than paying someone to do it in the office and if there are any mistakes or discrepancies, then it's on ADP, not the company.

Just finished reading The Complete History of Jack the Ripper by Philip Sugden. Reams and reams of historical data and then candidates chosen by the police. No pet theories on who the killer was, just police, witness and press statements. Dry, but extremely comprehensive and well written. Interesting was the written proof of how the press would change a phrase here...augment a statement there...and the new facts would become accepted and carried down through history for over 100 years.

if I'm streaming some TV, not from providers like Netflix or Hulu, but from random sites across the net....does that count against my bandwidth total?

found a good site that streamed the Marco Polo first season, quality was 720p for the episodes
