I go to the world's largest laundry. http://www.worldslargestlaundry.com/

They have industrial 8-load machines that take a credit card. Oh hell yes!

So this morning, the GF says "you don't have to separate my clothes, you can just wash it all together"

 Yes, because I totally would have separated it if you hadn't said that. Totally.

"Okay honey" was what came out of my mouth, but "yeah right, as if" was in my head.

Clearly I remember pickin' on the boy
Seemed a harmless little fuck
But we unleashed a lion
Gnashed his teeth and bit the recess lady's breast
How could I forget?

And he hit me with a surprise left
My jaw left hurting
Ew, dropped wide open
Just like the day
Oh, like the day I heard

I separate my clothes into two groups, stuff that can be washed in hot water (socks, underwear, towels, etc) and stuff that needs to be washed in cold, that's it

I use a complicated 5-step process.

A) 2 8-load washers. 1) All her clothes: cold. 2) All my clothes: warm. 33 minutes.
B) Walk across to Anthony's. Large slice and an RC: $3.25
C) 2 large capacity dryers. 1) All her clothes: medium. 2) All my clothes: hot. 40 minutes.
D) Walk across to Anthony's. Large slice and an RC: $3.25
E) Fold, return home.

I'm guilty of using it to my advantage.. It's really not fair though. I get lazy, but I do have to "tow the line" more than her.. I am out of that house at 7:35 and not back home until 5:20.. Every day, like clock work. Her, about 9:30 and 2:30 ish.. She has to make the sacrifice for us to avoid a $1000 a month child care bill.. So in a sense she loses a lot of her ability to earn because of that.

Same here. I do 90% of the cooking, and 100% of the cleaning, the grocery getting and home and car maintenance. She does the taxes, about 80% of the laundry and about 60% of getting our daughter to places.

My daughter empties the dishwasher and the vacuuming - you'd think we'd asked her to file our taxes!

Ditto.

I'm like 50/50 household chores with my wife, and we also make about the same... but her income is climbing FAST and mine in the corporate sector takes a lot more time to grow. I'd be cool with being a part time employee and taking on more at home if we have kids because she'll be the clear bread winner barring a series of rapid promotions at my job... my dad keeps telling me what a 'waste' that would be for me to be stay at home though, and knowing his generation I don't blame him for thinking that way. It'd be a tough adjustment for sure.

How bizarre, I was just listening to a radio talk about that today... the evidence against the cop was pretty incredible, obviously the dash came footage, the autoposy showing he was hit in his hands with no damage to the gun, a few other points too. A guy goes to a doctor and says, "Doc, youve got to help me. My penis is orange." Doctor pauses to think and asks the guy to drop his pants so he can check. Damned if the guys penis isnt orange. Doc tells the guy, "This is very strange. Sometimes things like this are caused by a lot of stress in a persons life."

Probing as to the causes of possible stress, the doc asks the guy, "How are things going at work?" The guy responds that he was fired about six weeks ago. The doctor tells him that this must be the cause of the stress. Guy responds, "No. The boss was a real asshole, I had to work 20-30 hours of overtime every week and I had no say in anything that was happening. I found a new job a couple of weeks ago where I can set my own hours, Im getting paid double what I got on the old job and the boss is a really great guy." So the doc figures this isnt the reason.

He asks the guy, "Hows your home life?" The guy says, "Well, I got divorced about eight months ago." The doc figures that this has got to be the reason for all of the guys stress. Guy says, "No. For years, all I listened to was nag, nag, nag. God, am I glad to be rid of that old bitch." So the doc takes a few minutes to think a little longer.

He inquires, "Do you have any hobbies or a social life?" The guy replies, "No, not really. Most nights I sit home, watch some porno flicks and munch on Cheetos."

Worked out in the back yard a good portion of the weekend. Nearly 5 years after buying the house we're STILL fighting with the disaster that is the back yard. Quick recap, the house was a foreclosure that was flipped by some 'foundation' that uses federal money to fix and flip properties. Best guess is the house was empty for about 12 to 18 months and it's fairly obvious that the previous owners let the yard go to hell. And the place that bought it to flip did absolutely nothing to the yard and/or landscaping. The back yard was a mess, barely any living grass, more weeds that you can even imagine. And every year we seem to end up with a different dominant weed. It's fighting a losing battle. We finally decided to just kill the back yard and start over. We had previously started doing little things before we went all apocalypse on the yard (planting trees and bushes/shrubs, mostly around the borders of the yard). We now have 4 new trees in the back plus 6 evergreens that we planted not too long after moving in to make a natural fence. But, the weeds keep doing their best to keep coming back. Even weed barrier wasn't working. So, we went a step up to thick plastic to use as weed barrier, even though you aren't supposed to because no water flow, retains too much heat, blah blah blah....we have no other real choice. So we worked on the back corner this past weekend.

Cut the weeds back as far as we could, laid out all the plastic barrier and dumped a metric shit ton of mulch. We really should have gotten a before picture because it is really night and day. But, slowly we are moving things along. I wish we had the kind of money that we needed to do it all at once, but that would probably be somewhere in the $20K to $30K range to get everything done, so we're doing what we can ourselves before we get the professionals to finish it off. Or who knows, we might just end up doing the whole thing ourselves.

Teh One Who Knocks
06-27-2017, 01:22 PM
Tried regular landscape (weed barrier) fabric as I mentioned above ( ;) ) to no avail. The weeds that were running rampant came right thru it and spread. And in the straw area is our 70 square foot grass test area. We're trying this new Dog Tuff grass that is becoming more and more popular

http://plantselect.org/learn/dog-tuff-grass-everything-you-need-to-know/

Hopefully it will cure what ails the back yard. But we are trying to get all the landscaping parts done before we go with more grass, the more area we can fill with landscaping, the less grass we need to buy.

Muddy
06-27-2017, 01:34 PM
Thats cool... The fabric we used worked meaning no grass grew through it, but it did grow on top of it as the older mulch broke down and made a type of soil on top of the fabric..

Teh One Who Knocks
06-27-2017, 01:43 PM
We're hoping that Dog Tuff grass is the answer for out back yard, both because of the dogs and the distinct lack of rain we get in the summer. It's pricey though, almost $10/square, but if it works, it will be worth it in the long run since it's so low maintenance. Plus, the soil in the back yard is shitty, mostly hard clay, very little top soil. Although on the 70 square foot test area we have fenced off, we added compost and topsoil, dug it all up and turned it all over and worked it in manually. I was a beat puppy after that day.

Teh One Who Knocks

Our back yard in the summer gets a solid 12 to 13 hours of intense sun per day, it's brutal. That's why we've planted 4 additional shade type trees in the back yard. Unfortunately it will be awhile since they are big enough to provide adequate shade from the sun.

I worked landscaping for a few summers. We used this insanely good mushroom fertilizer that smelled like death that we bought from some hippy. Made the grass so healthy it choked out the weeds, especially if you cut it a bit higher and mulched a few times. Downside was that you lawn would grow like hell and you had to mow twice a week

The problem is, the soil in the back yard is SO poor, that it would take a lot of good fertilizer and topsoil in to make it work for regular grass. Plus a lot of watering, and we had a sprinkler system quoted for the back yard a few years ago and it was going to be a ridiculous amount (around $6500). So that's why we're hoping this dog tuff stuff works.

He told me that his wife (who I also know from high school) divorced him. They were married out of high school. 21 years down the drain. That was like a year ago. They've been separated since 2015. Further, he just had surgery to have stage 3 cancer removed from his gut. He just started chemo that morning. He was coming from it to pick up a prescription that he needs to take when we ran into each other. I don't know if you know this, but I don't have a very good track record with cancer. Everyone I've ever known that came down with it has died from it... well except for my mother's uncle, but he's about to turn 90, so time's going to take him sooner or later. Anyway, my buddy's a chipper guy. Nothing brings him down. I hope he beats it. I'm gonna be praying for him.

And now the god damned snake. It was just a rough, exhausting day.

I will. Later. I can't right now.

It comes in 3's. It always comes in 3's.

The prescription. Tommy with the bad news. And the frickin' snake. That's 3. It's done.

I looked for that dead snake out back this morning. I couldn't find it anywhere. I bet its carcass ended up on somebody's back porch after being left there by their cat that they shouldn't be putting outside at night, 'cause it's against the rules of this subdivision. Anyways, they're probably thinking their cat is some kind of badass for killing a snake, when in reality, the little trespassing fucker is just a lowly scavenger.

Daughter and I just got back from the drag stip. My Camaro club was Co sponsor of Camaro vs Mustang night. Holy crap there are some fast ass car's and trucks out there. One of our club sponsors had their "shop" truck out...2017 silvarado, 6,000lbs + and running bottom 11's...insane! I pulled one 13.3 out. Not too bad considering mine isn't set up for drag racing.

On Street tires? That's pretty impressive!

Yes, street tires. I was the slowest club car there, lol. That was after pulling the passenger and rear seats out, and the air compressor/fix a flat kit chevy put in in place of a spare tire, lol
Couldn't get the hang of the tree though. They were running pro timed lights, and I'm used to .5 second sportsman lights.

Nope, just glazed it with teriyaki sauce (that's what the wife wanted). Was worried about it either coming out under done or over done, but it was damn near perfect. Tried to read up on grilling chicken online but every single site gave differing information on time and temp.

I do need new luggage. :-k I was looking for a 4 piece set though.

I'm looking into a new bedroom set too, but I doubt I'd find anything of considerable quality at Amazon.

I'm just gonna keep my list open all day and see if the prices drop on anything.

Tweets, Antifa, the resistance... all garbage and not even worth paying attention.

Ok, I've been watching this damned site since last night hoping something I actually want will be included in these sales. I've had enough, I'm done.

If I had the money to burn, I would have bought the Les Paul, but it's not necessary and I need the money for other shit right now.

In short, fuck you, Amazon.

If the Gibson Les Pauls are on sale next year, I'll totally buy one.

These days there's dudes getting facials
Manicured, waxed and botoxed
With deep spray-on tans and creamy lotiony hands
You can't grip a tackle-box

With all of these men lining up to get neutered
It's hip now to be feminized
I don't highlight my hair
I've still got a pair
Yeah honey, I'm still a guy

All my eyebrows ain't plucked
There's a gun in my truck
Oh thank God, I'm still a guy

Cool! A few months ago I bought a multi-pedal thing- a Zoom G3Xn and it loops, too. Haven't played much with it though. I bought it for the amp modelling mainly.

Milton Friedman was a stud.

If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in 5 years there'd be a shortage of sand.
The Great Depression, like most other periods of severe unemployment, was produced by government mismanagement rather than by any inherent instability of the private economy.
Governments never learn. Only people learn.
There is no such thing as a free lunch.
I am in favor of cutting taxes under any circumstance and for any excuse, for any reason, whenever it's possible.
When everybody owns something, nobody owns it, and nobody has a direct interest in maintaining or improving its condition. That is why buildings in the Soviet Union -- like public housing in the United states -- look decrepit within a year or two of their construction.
One of the great mistakes is to judge policies and programs by their intentions rather than their results.
Nothing is so permanent as a temporary government program.
I'm in favor of legalizing drugs. According to my values, if people want to kill themselves, they have every right to do so. Most of the harm that comes from drugs is because they are illegal.

Jam Man was my second choice, but, Boss won out for the features I thought would help me most. As of now, I only have two backing tracks saved on it: simple man, and born under a bad sign. Haven't played much with the simple man, but, now after 20 mins or so, I can follow along with rhythm on bad sign. Already worth the $
