I got a flier in the mail from a (fairly) local Toyota dealership that's having a 5 day sale that starts Tuesday next week. The flier had 4 scratch offs on it that said if you match the confirmation code above it, then you've won that prize. The prizes included a drone with camera, a $1000 Amazon gift card, (up to) $5000 in lottery tickets, and a 2018 Toyota Camry SE. Apparently, I've won the 2018 Toyota Camry SE. I'm supposed to call a number to verify that I've won.

Now here's the question: is this legit, or is it a crock of shit just to get bodies in the door during the 5 day sale? Did everyone who got the flier mailed to them "win" a 2018 Toyota Camry SE?

I could have done some damage with the Amazon gift card.

As far as I'm concerned if there is no disclaimer or fine print on the flyer saying you have to jump through this hoop or that or are entered in a drawing..... they owe you a car. IF you really did win it ( I have my doubts) don't be surprised if you have to pay taxes and other "fees".

What a weekend. On the island, a noreaster came through with 40+mph winds sistained for 36 hours. Water was up 73" flooding everything. No boats ,no planes, everyone stranded.

I had planned on hitching a ride home with a friend to bring my other car up for the summer but that fell through when they cancelled boat service. This morning I had to island hop to get my car off of the other island and am now waiting in line for the boat. Once I get home I have about 18 hours before I have to head back for work. Island Life.....

Almost got into a pretty big fight with the wife last week. Usually on Thursdays the kid has Writing Club after school and I'm the one that usually goes and picks her up. So I go and pick her up as usual and she seems kinda mopey and quiet. I ask her if she's okay and she says she's fine but I don't believe her. I tell the wife to ask thinking maybe the kid will open up to her instead of me (maybe it's some teenage girl issue or something she would feel more comfortable talking to her mom with instead) and the wife tells me it started that morning. She (the wife) had already left for work and the kid texted her asking if she could stay home from school that day. Why? Because she was 'sad'. No other explanation, just that she was sad. :| Well, I guess I wasn't taking it seriously enough for the wife suggested the kid could be depressed and I told the wife WTF does she have to be depressed about? The wife started going on about maybe she'll need counseling for whatever the issue is and blah blah blah. :| I started to say more but I was only digging a bigger hole, so I just said fine and dropped it. And of course the next day (Friday) after I got home from work and the kid got home from school, she was fine.

So don't go and try making Hollandaise sauce or your own salad dressing with them. They have to be cooked completely to kill the pathogen.

Yep - I'm well in this as my daughter is 15. They're trying to figure out who they are and it's a daunting task. Sometimes as dad all you can do is create opportunities to have them open up and be elated if they actually do.

I try to, as my wife works Saturdays, hang out with her especially then. There's a fave fish & chip place we go to. She orders Poutine and we figure out life. We don't do this regularly but infrequently - if it was scheduled I know she'd clam up.

...and she's a fairly in-touch-with-herself person thankfully. One trick I do is get her to talk about her friends, and then she'll usually then talk about herself. I think the important thing is to remain approachable, and hopefully they come to you...

Nice weather day yesterday, not too long after lunch, the wind went nuts here. Sustained winds between 25 and 35 mph with gusts anywhere between 70 and 100 mph all through the city. Blew semi trucks over, ripped the roof of a building downtown, closed DIA to all flights for several hours, trees and power lines down everywhere.

And it wiped out an entire section of my fence in my back yard. Ordered all the supplies to fix it last night because I'm sure there will be a run on fencing supplies the nxt few days, there were fences down all over my neighborhood that I saw on the way home yesterday. But there's another $700 I didn't really have to spend. :meh: Plus it will be a whole day (at least) fixing that section of fence.

I have 3 running around my house.. All I can say is that there are ups and downs. And sometimes it doesn't all make sense. My advice is to let your wife voice her concerns because sometimes they can have some merit. Just make sure you guys have a united front when dealing with the child. Still recovering from this here. A development is still under water, I didn't try to get in there because of the foot of muddy water covering the road. Lots of property damage. I did make it out to the Northeast end of the island, they got the road cleared (mostly). llarge amounts of debris, rocks, boulders. The breakwall failed in a couple places and there's an 8 foot section of road that's missing. Still a lot of standing water around. My family friends cottage seems to have made it through mostly unscathed. Locals are saying it's the worst they have seen since the 70's.

We've known for awhile that we were going to have to replace the fence around the entire house eventually. It's original when the house was built (1997) and wasn't taken care of by previous owners. It's in very rough shape. All we've done basically is use band-aids to keep it up (mostly just replacing old pickets). But the wind storm the other day snapped at least two of the posts on the back section of fence (maybe more) and that 50-60 foot stretch of fence is also the only section that is 5 feet tall instead of 6 feet, like the entire rest of the fence, which is very odd as to why it would have been built that way.

Luckily, this type of fence isn't hard to build/rebuild, it's just labor intensive. I have to replace a total of 8 fence posts on that section, so that's 8 stupid fence post holes to dig, which will be the worst part :lol: After that, it's basically just screwing 2x4's to the posts and then screwing the pickets to the 2x4's. The bigger problem is it's supposed to rain, and a lot, both Friday and Saturday. :|

They were freakin' fantastic amplifiers. Better than Marshall, but slightly less than Mesa Boogie. I had one back in the 90s, I loved it, and my biggest regret was not getting it as a combo instead of the half stack. It was just too damned big and heavy for a guy in a wheelchair to lug around. I had to get rid of it because of that. And they were a California company. Escondido, California.

I can do the math, teachers and schools aren't underfunded, they need to talk to the school boards about how the money is being spent. It's just like the fucking government, it's not a lack of taxes, it's the way they are spending the money.

My property tax bill for this year. The two items the red arrow shows are going directly to the school district. That's just a touch more than 60% of my property taxes going to the school. The same with every other property in the same school distract. Add that to the fact that the state of Colorado spent an additional $7.1 billion in taxpayer funds on education this past school year. Plus we get a list of stuff that runs between $100 and $200 every year that we have to buy to give to the kid and/or the school. But the schools are all supposedly broke and the teachers underpaid. Where the fuck does all that money go then?

They have a 3-day music festival called Rockville at Metropolitan Park, which is not too far from Everbank Field (Jaguars football stadium), which is part of the Sport's Complex where the baseball grounds is at. Subsequently, every single parking spot in the area that should belong to the baseball grounds was filled and every other parking spot in the surrounding area was $20. I'm still baffled at how they can justify charging $20 per parking spot. Either way, attending a concert or sport event, I'd be livid.

Being a convertible solves one of the reasons I wouldn't own one, the gigantic blind spots. The other issue is it's really hard to judge where the front end ends.

Yup, it's the same here for the Rockies, if you want "cheap" parking (around $7 last time I went to a game and had to park) you have to walk a quarter mile or so to the stadium. Close up parking is gonna run you $30 in Denver.

Well, worked on the fence all weekend. Had to work on Saturday and on the way home I picked up the concrete to do the job. Originally my plan was to replace that whole section of 5' fence in the backyard because it's all old anyway. Only got the worst part of it done because doing that fence kicked my ass. My arms and back are still fucking sore. And of course it was the first time we've been in the 80's this year, and it happened both days.

It started with digging up three of these cylinders of concrete to put the new posts in. There were three posts that had to be replaced. After digging those three up, I was whipped. No way I was going to do three more after that (and there's only one more rotten post that has to be replaced. The rest feel fairly solid for now.). Finally after getting those dug up, I cemented the 3 new posts in the ground and then did the 2x4 work but that was it, that was all day (I finally stopped at about 6pm after working for 5 hours that morning and working on the fence ALL the rest of the day). Did all the pickets yesterday and my arms are still killing me from putting in all those screws. I did get a chance to put that Ryobi drill to the test this weekend and it performed flawlessly. Must have done between 600 and 700 screws and it didn't miss a beat. Definitely worth the investment. But fuck me, I don't want to deal with a fence again any time soon, even though I've still got about 50' left of crappy 5' fence to deal with sometime in the future. :|

I caught the larger, best batteries on sale, two for $99. The standard batteries were not lasting long in my circular saw. The new ones have a boatload more juice and last way longer.

Stayed in an incredible spot on the ocean, food was phenomenal, weather was perfect. I'd also highly recommend Cabo in general, best airport of the 4 I've now been to in Mexico, the town felt very safe (much more so than P.V.), people were helpful and friendly.

I had a pickup at a Thai restaurant today. A vert tall, pretty Thai woman greeted me, and was very nice. She has little short shorts on, not bad... She smiled at me and I smiled back with a short stare. It was a nice human moment.

It occurred to me that we might have both been thinking the same thing... "I wonder if your cock is bigger then mine"
