But today. Wow. The elderly landlord shows up to cut the grass. His has his wife with him. I always thought she was a little odd, but I assumed it was just that she didn't speak much English. I exchanged plesantries with the landlord and mentioned the neighbor moving out. He said it happens that way sometimes. The suddenly the wife is right next to me, almost in my face and starts ranting loudly. "He has a girlfriend, she has no money. No rent, No electricity, No car. She dumped him because he's too old and cant' fuck any more. And he stills gives her money!" :shock: (okay, so she can speak English, but what the fuck?) I said "who are we talking about?" "BOB" (her husband, the landlord) she yells, and walks away. I look at the landlord. Never actually used it because usually if I even go to the doctor and need a script, it's because I'm sick and kinda need it right away, so I just have them send it to the pharmacy and go pick it up. It's actually meant more for repeat stuff, like high blood pressure pills, heart med, stuff you are on for long term. But supposedly it will show up in just a couple of days and it's supposed to be cheaper than the local pharmacy.

Welp, I'm getting promoted at work on Tuesday. Not a huge promo, but adding 'senior' to my title which comes with a pay bump and more responsibility. My boss told me it was coming in the next 12 months and they were going to throw some challenges my way to develop me, but there was a big shake up at head office and he said he saw a window to do it now without having to post it and go through the HR hoops of interviewing and shit, so it's happening much faster than I'd anticipated.

On one hand I'm am super thankful, humbled and excited for the challenge....... on the other, I'm still the youngest and newest member of my current team. Although I've been in the industry 8 years , I've only been in this roll 2.5 years, and am getting promoted over several other people who've been there longer, at least 2 of them are fairly ambitious as well. I think I'm ready for the job, but I also have great relationships with my coworkers and this is the first time in my career I've taken a promotion over someone older/more experienced, so I hope they're happy for me and not resentful or anything. Thankfully my current boss is also very young and skipped over some people, so he's a great guide and support.

The thing that helps here is that in North America, the US especially, is we have more HUGE stadiums than any other country in the world, so it's easy to be able to pack large crowds in. And because of the MLS, there are quite a few 'soccer only' stadiums here now too, but they are usually quite a bit smaller. I'm sure most of the matches would be played in either NFL or college football stadiums because of their size. There are three universities off the top of my head that have stadiums that seat more than 100,000 people.

It's called Prime Now, I think it's only available in the larger US cities right now and it's all based on what they have stocked in local warehouses. Yesterday an armed robbery happened in downtown Denver where the suspect exchanged fire with the cops. One cop was shot in the leg but the suspect was killed. In another incident later that day, a sheriff pulled over a female suspect who opened fire on the deputy. Suspect was killed. And then the last incident, 4 people, 2 children and 2 adults, were short in the north metro area of the city outside a dentist office. One of the kids is dead. Motive unknown still, suspect in custody.

A local 33 year old black man was shot and killed by city police earlier today. The article doesn't have much on it. Apparently the guy was a manager at the local Taco Bell, and a father of two boys. He was driving in a car with an unidentified male black passenger when a police car started following them. The article doesn't state why the police car started following them. They got to an intersection and jumped out of the car. The driver and passenger started running in opposite directions. The passenger got away. The officer followed the driver on foot and caught up to him. Apparently there was a struggle and the officer shot the driver several times, killing him. The article states the officer was wearing a body cam, but they didn't say if the footage has been reviewed yet. Of course, the article has nothing but glowing wonderful things said about the man who was shot and killed by a bunch of people that knew him. And they're demanding answers!!

Why was the officer following them? What was he suspicious of?
Why did they jump out of the car and start running? Why would they run from the police?
Why did he get into a physical altercation with the officer? Why didn't he just submit and not resist?

Even had contractors come by for quotes whole I was in Odessa. Seems none of them noticed that the roof ridge shingles are lifted. During the last few days, wife says we had 6" rain. Went to my first HOA meeting today. It was very illuminating.

I found out:

1. There is no real HOA here. We have a guy who runs community meetings, but he keeps talking about the time in the future when he no longer has to do it and we'll have to take care of it all for ourselves.
- If there is no real HOA here, then there's no real reason for anyone to give a flying flip about the community covenance. So we can expect everything to go to shit in about a year's time since everybody knows that now. I guess I'm gonna be cleaning up everybody's animal shit in my yard after all.
- When the dude is gone, we're gonna have to negotiate and hire a lawn service or do it ourselves. I'm thinking we're gonna end up having to do it ourselves. I can tell a lot of these people aren't gonna do jack shit, so yards are gonna end up being a mess.

2. The realtors and builders lied to everybody about moving here.
- They said the HOA would be around for good and all community rules would be enforced.
- We would get security eventually. We were supposed to become a gated community. That ain't gonna happen.
- We would get a clubhouse/amenity center with a swimming pool. That shit ain't gonna happen either.

3. Nobody in this development actually seems to understand any of the above. There's a few people I talked to that get it, but everybody else is completely clueless.

Real H.O.A.'s have documents that you sign and are tied to the transfer of property. If you did not sign anything like that when the property changed hands then you are in whats called a voluntary H.O.A and there is nothing legally binding about it.

Really it's not. It's considered a "high end" item so roofers charge a shitload of money to install it. It's no more labor intensive than shingle. The skill level to install is a bit higher though.

I do some basic steel roofs here on the island (not standing seam yet) A Park Model home (trailer) 10' X 40' is like 500 bucks for the steel, $800 for all materials.

Our townhouse has a strata. At the first meeting I went to they were arguing what to replace the siding with. It took 2 years to decide, as there were people who wanted the newer plastic-style and others who wanted wood. The wood won.

Me and a buddy had a long discussion about this once. The best way for us to deal with Mexico would be to actually invade it and annex it into the United States. Sure at first it would be a mess, but in the long run I think it would be better than what we have now.

It'd be easier to deal with southern border crossings since their southern border is that much smaller. The Mexican people want to live in a free country anyway. Our military could eradicate the cartels in a relatively short amount of time.

I've a friend coming up with her daughter and dog for two nights, then they leave and another comes Sunday-Thurs with two younger kids. Then Fri-Sun two couples. Question, should I start taking the Zanex now or wait till I really need it?

It depends. Do they have a system of rules and consequences for the kids? Because my cousin has absolutely none. She threatens but doesn't follow through when he defies her. If it's like that, put your guns, knives, blunt tools, and baseball bats away. You will be seriously tempted... like I'm being right now.

And I'm so frustrated, because I can't say anything. He's not my kid. It's not my place to tell someone how to raise their kids. He's just trespassing in my domain.

Parents need a strict set of rules. If the kids defy the rules, then there needs to be a reasonable set of consequences for each rule broken. There has to be a punishment. And parents have to be consistent with these rules and consequences, or else the kids will never listen or respect the parents.

My cousin has it worse: She's a divorced mother, she's always been very meek and timid, letting people walk all over her for all of her life, now including her kid. Her ex-husband is a piece of shit asshole who undermines her every effort with this kid, he lets the little bastard get away with murder, and she can't do anything about it because her ex-husband's family all works in the family court system of Philadelphia. Nepotism. He gets all the favors. She got royally screwed in the divorce proceedings. I'm surprised she has custody rights at all. She was ordered to pay for his business's insurance for 5 years, even though she was an unemployed stay at home mother during the marriage. How the fuck does that happen in this pro-woman family court system that RBP's been railing against for years? In liberal-controlled Philadelphia, no less.

I swear, if I was up there, I would have murdered the ex-husband's entire family line by this point.

But she needs to make a stand with this kid or she's going to have it so much worse when he hits his teens. She's been living her entire life with this little black cloud over head woe-is-me attitude all her life. She needs to assert herself, stand up for herself...

Up to a certain point I agree, once the kid crosses my imaginary line and the parent doesn't say anything the new policy becomes "My house, My rules" You aren't the kids dad but he sure as hell better show respect IN YOUR HOUSE. And that would include talking back to his mother.
