Day after my Dad passed we went through all of the closets/drawers in the house, both Mom and Dad's clothes.

We ended up with 19 green garbage bags full of old clothes and donated them to the Kidney Foundation, who will come by your house and take the bags from your step.

They had to make two trips for us. Kinda hurt seeing those things go :(

I had a kidney and bladder ultrasound and have an enlarged prostate. It happens to most men as they age.

In my case they're checking for cancer because there is a concern. Guy two houses down didn't go to a doc (like you, relatively healthy) and just got his prostate removed last year. He told me he wished he would have gone earlier as there was a chance for a different procedure if caught early. He had prostate cancer and is good now :thumbsup:

He's 18 and he's lived a good life and been a good cat. I think it's just his time. It's extra hard though because he was the cat my dad picked out (we've had him since he was about 6 months old) so it's like losing another piece of him too. But for Nermal, it's the right thing to do, he shouldn't have to suffer any more than he most likely already is. Still doesn't make it any easier. What a shitty way to end the day.

Thanks guys....but the shitty night got even worse. After we mentally prepare ourselves for this, we get Nermal in the cat carrier (a place he DOES NOT like to be, he has never traveled well, which our vet is aware of) and we head to the vet. My wife had called them at 2:45 and they knew we we were coming and would be there by 6. We're a little early, but not that much, and as soon as we walk in, without asking who we were or why we were there, a snotty vet tech snapped from behind the desk "there's a 2 hour wait for walk-ins!" :wha: So we tell the girl at the counter who we were and why we were there. After a few minutes she apologized and said we're sorry, because of all the emergencies right now, we don't have a room available for you, it will be 60 to 90 minutes. :| Mind you, we've been using this vet for almost 7 years now and we bring all out animals here. It's not like we're strangers, we've spent a LOT of money there. Regardless, no room available and they never bothered to call us and say hey, maybe you might not want to come down right now, call ahead and check and see how things are in an hour. NO, instead we traumatize Nermal and ourselves and end up going back home. We wait until 7 and call back and my wife is put on semi-eternal hold. FINALLY someone gets back on the line and they are still busy and....my wife cuts them off and says we were calling back about having to put Nermal down but obviously you guys don't have time for us, and she hung up.

We're all upset and now pissed at this point and now we have to do this all over again while Nermal has to suffer through another day. :|

They were showing shots on the news of an indoor mega-mall with a Macy's anchor - even people walking in the mall that showed 2 stories - it had no relevance to the story. The mall with the Macy's is 8 miles away. The shooter did not "enter a mall" and begin firing - he entered a WalMart. The entire incident was in one stand-alone store.

I think the most holidays I've ever gotten off was 7. The place I worked at in Vermont gave us the basic 6 off that Pony mentioned (New Year's, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas) and we also got Good Friday off, but only because the owner of the company was a VERY staunch Catholic, so we got that extra day off.

I get the 7 plus 5 weeks of vacay time.

Me and my boss were talking about this yesterday, especially since they are saying that the Colorado law might be the blueprint for a national law. We're more than likely going to end up with something because of all of this, whether we want it or not. So, we were discussing that if they are going to push a national red flag law, then they need to write it so there are safeguards in place for gun owners. Such as, if a person files a 'complaint' under the red flag law, then there needs to be repercussions if the complaint wasn't filed in good faith. Starting with a minimum penalty of filing a false police report as a first offense and then steadily getting worse if you keep doing it.

The biggest issue with a vaguely written red flag bill is that it can easily be abused, especially if you are allowed to file the complaint anonymously. Know someone that has weapons that you don't like? Call in a fake red flag complaint against them and the cops will show up and take his guns and then he's the one that needs to prove he's not guilty of anything. My personal opinion, and I know a lot of people think I'm going to extremes with respect to this, but if there were no such things as gun free zones then there would be no soft targets in the minds of the people responsible for these kinds of crimes. That's what they look for: soft targets. Gun free zones tell psychos "Look! A bunch of unarmed people all in one place! Easy pickins!" Repeal all gun laws, pass a national constitutional conceal carry law and when somebody does come out of the woodwork looking for carnage, after the initial assault, the people in the situation turn on the shooter, draw, and make him Swiss cheese. Arm teachers in schools, for those that don't mind being armed. I do appreciate the fact that some just won't want to be armed, and no one should be forced to carry a firearm if they don't want to. Place armed security guards in schools. We've got armed security guards in banks protecting our money, why the hell not in schools protecting our kids? Kids are more important than money, aren't they? And forbid the media from focusing on the shooters. Don't let them become famous. Most of them want to go out in a blaze of glory. They want to be remembered. They want to be infamous. Don't give it to them. And beef up our mental health laws to get kids help when they obviously need it. A lot of these shooters needed help and they were ignored.

One of my closest friends G is getting married. He's been with his fiance for about 8 years now. They're due to have a very expensive wedding (that they can't really afford) in 3 weeks. My wife just got back from the bachelorette party for the bride in Portland on Sunday, pricey little trip. Us guys have a bachelor party planned for our friend G in two weeks... there are a dozen guys coming, some from as far as Hong Kong and Denmark. This couple has always seemed solid. My friend G is a stand-up dude, the friend who is always there for everyone, always a voice of reason, just an all around stand-up human. The girl... eh I like her, but she's complicated. She was a nightmare on the stag with my wife, total drama queen, and called her fiance about 6 times a day, even going home early twice from the activities they'd planned because 'social anxiety.' But it's always been like that, we figured maybe they just even each other out (despite quietly wondering why such our rock-solid friend would be with a delicate, sickly person). We saw our buddy this weekend though, and didn't get any hints there was a problem whatsoever.

Well something snapped. We all get an email out of the blue today saying the wedding is off. I'm stunned. Nobody has got a full story. Being so close to the wedding I'm sure they've lost thousands of dollars in deposits. We also have a very expensive deposit paid on a house we rented in the US for this stag party in two weeks, and people have flights booked in from around the world to surprise him for it. I guess we'll just go anyways?

I'm not even sure what to say to my buddy, other than I'm here to talk if he wants. All of our friends are floored because we see them weekly and nobody had a clue.

Well, better now than a divorce. Pretty crazy though, first time this has happened to a friend I'm close with.

We have next to nothing in terms of shootings here but when they do happen I've been surprised to see the news people always blame immigrants/say they're gang related.

The incidents are almost always one car pulling up somewhere and shooting at another, or more recent events have been random gunshots into houses. We don't get many mass public shootings at schools, malls etc so I can see how they tend to limit the responsibility to certain groups.

It's true, 10+ years ago Denver was the perfect medium sized city. It was safe, there were tons of things to do, and it was affordable. Now, comparatively speaking, there's all kinds of gangs and drug issues, the city is WAAAAAY overcrowded, you can't even go up into the mountains anymore without running into a thousand other people up there, and it's so damn expensive to live here any more. Between me and my wife we make pretty decent money, but we don't have much for disposable income at all because of the cost of living here.

It's a fair thought, but this guy is far too trustworthy for even her to worry about that (we planned on a cabin-type stag, nowhere near any deviance). This guy is too wholesome. And to her credit, she was helping us plan the surprise and it turns out she knew it was a country trip and not Vegas or something raunchy.

Met up with friends to chat about the future of the stag weekend and heard more shit. Sounds like he was the one that called off the wedding the minute she got back from the bachelorette. She was blindsided. I think it was her incessant phone calls and extreme anxiety being away from him for three nights that caused him to finally see the light that her mental health/clingy-ness is not in a place to get married. She's not working right now, she's doing a masters degree on top of planning a wedding and I think it's caused her to come totally come unraveled. I don't know why it took so long for it to click, but I'm relieved he had the balls to call of the wedding 3 weeks out, rather than just going through it because it's too late.

They're still together for now, and mentioned perhaps a small wedding in 2020 when 'their mental health is in a better place'.' Doubt it though.

I've only read cursory stories about him and hope that someone is brave enough to release some of the more intimate details. Of course that person is going to have to pull a missing persons act and live in Lower Botswana for life. They could make millions if they do it right and live..

I don't think the 2 weeks is significant, necessarily, not without knowing the procedures. But being puled off watch significantly changes the personal property allowed. On watch he wouldn't have the means. It sounds like they removed the watch and he almost immediately killed himself, which adds to the suspicion. (IF he killed himself. Big IF).

I suspect the police are only going to release surface details of his death. We won't get anything resembling the truth. The people Epstein ran with are so far up the ladder I bet the NY police commissioner is scared.

Article above says he was sequestered in the 'terror wing' and that's right after he was put on suicide watch. There is no way that guy had the means to off himself under that kind of scrutiny.

I joined up around 2003 and got a package from my phone provider and had to put filters on every phone jack in the house and then use a specific dual line from the phone jack to my modem. Guy from work was supposed to come over at 7 after work to help get me on to the internet and he was late, arriving after 9pm.

By then I had it put together/figured out and just dove in headfirst searching from yahoo or some dodgy provider home page.

Yup, I remember the filters you had to put on the phones. And when someone would pick up the phone in another room you would lose your connection. :lol:
