I have been wanting to do a new build for awhile. Got this email link yesterday. https://www.personaldefenseworld.com/2020/08/brownells-brn-180-upper-300-blk/ They have only been out a few days.

Things I like about this upper are piston system, using 223 wylde barrel, no buffer tube, compatible with my lowers... 300 blackout option in a piston system big bonus.

They also have dedicated lowers using a picatinny rail where a buffer tube would usually screw into, which would allow folding SIG stocks.

I think I found my new build.

However, that elusive guitar amplifier I've been hunting for years is now back at Guitar Center. There's a bunch of guitars I wouldn't mind having as well that I'm finding used. I bet people are selling their junk because everything's shut down and they need the money. That slightly saddens me.

The Carvin x100 combo. I can't handle stacks. They're impossible for me to move. I didn't know any better back in the day, so I bought the x100b half stack back in the early 90s. It sounded amazing, but I couldn't do anything with the behemoth, so I sold it. I should have bought the combo instead. When I thought about obtaining the combo again last decade, I found that the company split up after the owner's death and the audio side wasn't making amps anymore. They had reissued the combo back in 2006 before he died, but I wasn't thinking about stuff like that back then. There was just way too much shit on my plate. There was one on Reverb up until two years ago, but I waffled on it and somebody else bought it.

I'd really like to have it, but I really think I should arm up instead. It's coming.

Hit the front end with a tubescreamer as a boost and you can get a really nasty distorted tone out of it. But I'm not after it because of its rhythm distortion. It's a great lead amp and its cleans are amazing. I have a Mesa Boogie Mark V for my gain needs.

I've got enough 9mm and 5.56 to arm a small 3rd world army, but I could always use more. I don't have nearly enough 12 gauge slugs that I need. I wanted a distance rifle and thought an AR-10 in 308 would be a decent acquisition. It's all about the telescoping stock for me. Most hunting and distance shooting rifles have stocks that are too long for me to be comfortable. I like keeping shit in tight. If I had longer arms, I wouldn't care as much (and I'd look really funny). My AR-15 is a godsend in that respect. If I could get out to 500 to 800 yards with a bigger load relatively cheaply then I'd be happy.

Blackstar amps rock. I don't know about the immediate need. It's an election year. It'd be best to get your gun purchases in now before the new year, just in case. At the very least, figure out where you're going to bury your guns in the event Trump loses (I seriously doubt he will, but I bought my AR-15 in November 2016 before the general election just in case the beast was elected. I'm glad I was wrong). And with respect to all of the protests and riots, I don't think anything's gonna get better any time soon. If anything, it'll get worse when Trump wins reelection. Arm up. The EHX Soul Food is a colorless OD. "Transparent overdrive" is the industry name for it. Whatever tone your guitar has without it, that's what comes out when you plug into it with the added crunch. There's no treble, mid, or bass boost or cut whatsoever. You're just hearing the natural sound of your guitar through the amp, with the OD hitting the front end of the amp. Technically, it's a Klon Centaur clone. If you've seen the prices of those (they were only made for 4 years in the 90s), or the Klon KTR (its updated reissue), you'd understand the need for cheaper clones. Anyway, it wasn't really made for metal, it's best used as a transparent boost, as opposed to the mid boost you get with a tube screamer. But hey, you do you, man. If you can get what you need out of it, then so be it. I've got one and I use it on occasion.

If you're talking the Marshall Blues Breaker pedal, good luck. They've been out of production for a while, so they go used for boutique prices nowadays. The lowest price on Reverb is $350 (It's not the real thing, it's a knockoff). Others (the real ones) are significantly more expensive. Some pedal makers make clones, some of which can be found in this article:

I'm supposed to be on a rig south of San Antonio in the am. Called and they're okay with me getting there in the afternoon. Guess I get to go fridge shopping in am. So much for the go fast money I've been putting aside for the Camaro.

Wife got retested last week. Negative, so, she's all fine now. No one else caught it, and I thoroughly enjoyed my weeks isolation in my studio/guest house.

On the fridge, seems its the same pos small circulation fan in the freezer section. When it goes out, both sides shut down. I ordered a replacement (mostly because i didn't want to spend $2k) that should be in Sat. I did some redneck electrical engineering, bypassed the flow switch, and got fridge going for now.

There's always aftermarket cartridges. That's what I do with the laserjet ones. OEM laserjet cartridges are RIDICULOUSLY expensive.
