Went to a Canuck game tonight (NHL ice hockey for the non-North Americans). First major sports event I've been to since the pandi.

MAN it was awesome to be in a stadium again. The place was basically full. The crowd seemed a little muted for some reason and we lost, but I was on cloud 9. Flyers fans are nuts, they must've been 10-15% of the stadium :lol:

My parents have had years where they get 200+ kids on Halloween. Streets are flat in their area and the houses are fairly close together, whereas most of their part of town is hilly so I think people ship their kids in... even then though $220 must be well over a thousand mini bars :lol:

I bought about $30 worth of candy for Halloween one year and it was a ton of candy. After trick or treating was over, I gave out maybe 10% of it, and I was pretty generous unless a kid pissed me off. Less and less kids came by. I kept rolling back how much I spent, because I would end up having to eat the lion's share of it. The shit would still be around in March. 1st, I'm home after 13 months. And Melbourne came out of lockown yesterday :cheers:

2nd, I plugged my S10 into a dangling USB-C cable out of my monitor (just to charge it), and before I know it this "Dex" thing pops up and I have an entire workstation on my 4k screen, with pretty smooth functionality. And get this. I am still able to use my phone at the same time, browse, take a pic an upload it, while at the same time connect and use wirlesse mouse and keyboard for the big screen.

Technology is insane. I bet I still don't know half the things my phone can do :-k

Modern gun deer season opens tomorrow, been waiting to decide which gun to carry. There are still a bunch of leaves and underbrush in the way.
I think my AR chambered in 7.62x39 shooting 123 grain soft point is the best option this weekend. Heavy enough bullet to carry through brush and still have plenty of knockdown energy at around 100 yards. The gun is also easy to carry and manage through brush.
Weather looks great. Overnight lows around freezing, sunny around mid 50's daytime.

I've got a heating pad that I've been putting on my arm/elbow, and it's kinda helping. I ordered some compression sleeves from Amazon, either they can help or they'll be completely useless. I don't see them doing any harm. I've got a doctor's appointment tomorrow for an unrelated issue, so I'll just ask the doc about it when I see him. Yea, I saw the cop in the right lane with another vehicle, slowed down and as I crested the curve of the overpass there she was in the fucking middle of the highway, I hit the brakes, started skidding and released the brakes and barely managed to swerve around her without losing control. She's damn lucky I just put my new snow tires on the car yesterday. Scared the hell out of me.

About 2 miles up the highway was closed for 2 hours due to more accidents. I had plenty of time for my adrenaline to wear off while I was dead stopped sitting in traffic. Was a touch late for work this morning.

Our brilliant government freaked everyone out about the highway closures in light of flooding that has basically closed the city off from the rest of the country (despite one highway already being back open to essential traffic). They decided to ask people to limit gas buying to 30L (honor system). So naturally the pumps were lined up 6 cars deep all over town as everyone rushed to get theirs. Now most pumps are sold out (I've seen refueling trucks coming in though so there's no actual shortage).

Same thing happened at the grocery stores... they asked people not to panic buy... so everyone was like "why would I need to panic buy? Shit I should go shopping"

I try to not get involved in other people's marital affairs, but you should take at least one day off a week for muscle recuperation in any exercise regimen. For you, because, as far as I know, you're not doing any sort of weight training, if I were you, I'd take one day off and I'd make it Sunday. Just keep in mind, the days you do take off should be lower calorie days, meaning you should eat less on your off days. But that's just my 2 cents.

We launched a brand new system for our business clients.... 10,000 users across the country, all accessing our new system via integration into their systems, which can be any one of half a dozen software vendors that we don't own or manage ourselves.

We've been sending communications to get them prepared for months, but nobody reads their emails or pays attention in meetings, so this entire week is me trouble-shooting one of 10 different issues that could be causing integration issues (all issues that we spoke to them about well beforehand). We hosted 30 online training sessions over a month and one day after they wrap up, I'm getting calls going "I missed training, what now." :suicide:

I'm not in IT but it feels like it right now :lol: Thankfully I have some software know-how and can help troubleshoot without opening tickets to IT usually, but this is still actual chaos.

Wife wants to get herself a handgun since the two pistols we have at home are kind of large for her hands. Went to Cabela's and the dude we talked to was AWESOME. He took his time and didn't talk down to my wife who has limited knowledge of firearms and took his time explaining everything and answering her questions about everything. Showed us the above gun (it's a Smith & Wesson) and it was a slick little pistol. Holds 8 rounds and is chambered in either .380 auto or 9mm (I told the sales guy I would prefer nothing smaller than 9mm though for her to have for defense...the one they had at Cabela's was 9mm). He even told us that if we went online and bought the gun that way, for $100 more it comes with a nice tactical bag and FIVE magazines. Really happy with the customer service we got. He also told us about an indoor range that wasn't too far from us where they have a huge variety of guns that can be rented and fired so that she can get a feel of what she would be getting before she buys. Plus the guys that work there will help her with posture and stance and everything, so that will probably be our next stop in the near future.

I know it's for your wife, so my experience might not be the same as hers, but I have a first gen M&P9c (compact, the shields are subcompacts) that has that same exact thumb safety on it, and it kinda gets on my nerves from time to time. It just gets in the way on occasion. Your wife might feel differently about it.

The cities, like most cities in the US, are largely liberal. Everywhere else is mostly conservative. There has been an influx of liberals into the state over the past decade or more due to the state government wanting to have a share of Hollywood's business. If you haven't noticed, a lot of the Marvel movies are made in and around Atlanta, as well as tv shows like the Walking Dead. The jobs in that industry are largely occupied by artsy leftists types. Internet is down at work again...this is like the 4th or 5th time in the last month or so.

Saw a lot more people wearing their masks in the stores the last couple of days. Still a decent amount not, but I would say it's now tilted above 55-60% of people wearing them now. Except at Target, wife and I went there on Sunday and a good 95% of people there were wearing them. We got the ol' side-eye from quite a few of the self-righteous people in there. I think it's hilarious. Still waiting for someone to say something to us/me, but so far other than dirty looks, no one has said anything.

Not sure what it is that people don't understand. The pandemic part of Covid is OVER. It's been over for awhile now. This virus is now endemic, it's going to be just like the flu, it's going to be here forever, and the government needs to stop their fearmongering and state that fact. Stop trying to inflate each new variant to the DEATH VIRUS. Covid is progressing just like every other virus out there, it's becoming more contagious and less deadly. Sure, there will still be people who die, just like the flu kills tens of thousands of people every season, but now it's just time to get back to living your life. No matter what anyone tells you, there will never be any such thing as 'zero Covid' and people are going to have to come to grip with that fact.

Agreed, but in the case of covid you need to keep the vaccination rates a lot higher, at least for a few years. Well, at least that's my suggestion.

I see a return for a few people wearing masks on the street here as well. Completely of their own volition. But museums and restaurants and art galleries and entertainment are mask free still.

Latest virus results in. Still negative even though I was in direct contact all last week with co-worker who along with his wife,tested positive.

Nope, not vaxxed. Ive definitely been in contact confirmed positives over the last 2 years or so. Many times. Only reason I got the test is because of work requirements. I'm not anti vax, just have some reasons I don't wish to get vaxxed at this time. Everyone else in my house is. The co-worker is vaxxed as well. Wife had Corona last year,but all she had was here normal yearly allergy symptoms. Pretty sure I had it Jan 2020. I was bad sick. Not flu, not pneumonia, definitely not a cold. I was laid up for a week, and took a month before I felt normal. This was before I knew about the rona.

My kid is sick, just a cold or possibly strep. Had a sore enough throat yesterday morning that the wife decided to keep her home from school and get her into the doctor to get a strep test. But because of all the covid bullshit, they would only see her as a 'virtual visit' :roll:

So they just prescribed her some generic antibiotics and if she doesn't get better THEN they will see her and giver a strep test. Fucking unbelievable.
