Well, this is damn peculiar. I had a medical bill that was due on April 2nd. I knew it was there, I got notification of it's existence via email. I have the insurance EOB for it. I figured, "What the hell. Let me go pay it." I log into the account, and it's nowhere to be found. I call the help line and the woman I'm talking to is looking for it. She says billing deleted it. She can see the EOB, and she can see that the actual medical group is saying that it's there, but it's just not there anymore. It disappeared and she can't tell me why. I don't like this. Not. One. Bit.


Just go out and spend the money on something frivolous. I'm sure it will be fine.

It's April 2nd. Guess what? The bill's back up on the account... and it's due today. Those fuckers took it away just so I wouldn't get to claim the 15% discount. And/or try to get me to be delinquent on it so they could send me to collections. I can't do anything about this one except pay it, but I'll be taking detailed records on the rest of them, and if they fuck with me again, I'll take their asses to court for deceptive billing practices. I'm watching you closely now, motherfuckers.

Loading up truck and daughters car in am. Moving her to San Antonio area to live with my sister in law. SIL is recently divorced, and going through massive empty nest syndrome. ( both of her children are grown and gone) and lives in a 3200sgft 2 story alone. Job opportunities for daughter are massively better in that area. Hope it works out well. Best part is at this point, I dont have to give up my studio since daughter is moving out. Wife and daughter had plans to move daughter into studio (14x26' fully finished Morgan building)

Update on Thor. We took him to the neurologist on Friday and the visit went well. She did a really comprehensive exam and didn't think it was anything like a tumor (although that couldn't be ruled out completely). She seemed positive that we can get the seizures back under control with medication. She increased the dosage on one of the meds he's already on, but this particular med can affect the liver, so we have to have a blood test done in about 10 days to make sure that everything is okay. She thought that part of the problem might be that since he's been on medication for awhile now, he may be metabolizing the current dosage more now and has built up a tolerance to it. So, she increased that and said that if that doesn't help, there's another med that can be added as well. So we're fairly hopeful going forward.

She did say that him going from having the seizures as often as he did to none for 13 months was kind of an anomaly and that is rather uncommon and told us that we shouldn't expect that again. But she did say that she was hopeful that we could get it down to 2 to 3 per year, which would be fine especially since in every other way, Thor is fine and a happy dog. So we're just glad that as of now, it doesn't seem like he's getting worse or there's some other major underlying thing that is getting worse, and that we can get these back under control.

Cut down on dirt/mud/dust depending on the weather. Keeping grass in the yard with 4 dogs is a losing battle. Plus, we've been in a fight with the yard since we bout the house. Because the house was empty for about 18 months before we bought it, plus the prior owners obviously didn't take care of the yard, it had become overgrown with nothing but weeds and crab grass. We finally got most of the weeds killed off a few years ago and try and keep up on the new ones, but we haven't had the time or money to really redo the back yard the way we want, so we're just trying to keep the dirt covered up as much as possible.

Had an absolute riot in Montreal, 10 dudes in the shittiest airnbn but right on the main party street. We acted like we were 22 again for 3 nights... two nights at the strippers, one at nightclubs/bars, out until 4am eating poutine to close out each night. I haven't gone that hard since university, we didn't eat a single vegetable for 4 days, and I'm still recovering. We abused the bachelor pretty hard, lot of booze and drugs were consumed, and a few guys made horrible financial decisions at the 'rippers, but nobody did anything too regrettable thankfully :lol:


Went straight from Montreal to Toronto and had 3 days of work events. Two more days were planned for today and tomorrow but got cancelled as half our team came down with covid, so I flew home to avoid potentially getting stuck there. Between the work exposure, 3 flights, and a bach party with no sleep, packed night clubs and strippers in our face, I'm somehow still testing negative as of tonight which is basically a miracle.

Took the wife to her 2 week post-op checkup yesterday. Doctor was really pleased with her progress. She already has about 125° of movement on her knee and he says that her knee feels really solid. Gave her an A+ on everything and said she is good to keep working on it. Wants to see her back again in a month.

He's telling us "I have 4 identical charges for $200, I only withdrew one time! I've already disputed the charges with my bank, no way that's right."

Other friend goes "Bud, I saw you standing at the ATM pounding away at that thing over and over like an absolute zombie, then disappearing back into the private lounge" :lol: Poor dude was pretty sour about his financial decisions, left his visa and interac card at home the next two nights :lol: He later admitted he got an hour straight of lap dances from the same chick! Also... who is dumb enough to use the ATM inside the strip club?


Another dude snuck back to the same club all three nights after we'd all tapped out, just to blow his lunch money over and over again on the same girl "Mercedes". She gave him her number the first night and he was texting her completely in love all weekend. We kept trying to tell him - this is what they do, they're professionals, she doesn't love you buddy. He tried calling her during the daytime to "just take her to brunch" - call goes straight to voicemail but she later texts her work schedule.... Poor fella was just too stupid to get it and talked about her all weekend even as we reminded him that he didn't even know her real name. The third night, right as he got to this club she was leaving with some rich looking old dude, and our guy's heart visibly broke like Ralph Wiggum on Valentines Day. It was priceless, but he was still trying to justify Mercedes's love for him the next morning. Great entertainment for the rest of us.

Me and the other guy who organized this stag joked that next time we organize a stag, we're going to include a training video on how not to get fleeced at a strip club.

If any of you have a boys trip coming up, you must add in 'The Game of Life' rules. Three simple ones to institute all weekend:

1. Buffalo - You must drink with your non-dominant hand all weekend. If you get caught sipping with your dominant hand, someone can call 'Buffalo' (don't ask why) and you must immediately finish your drink. Doesn't matter if it's 10am and you just ordered a bloody marry to shake the hangover, too bad. If someone forgets you're a leftie or somehow calls a wrong buffalo - they finish their drink.

Brought pup home from dog daycare today and he was fine, he lay down to nap and got up and is now limping... kind concerning. We examined his front leg and shoulder thoroughly and couldn't find anywhere that was tender or swollen, his pads and nails look fine, very strange. Guess we'll see how it is in the morning :(

Hey fellas, hope everyone is doing well!

Back from a busy week and a half. Had a wedding Saturday before last, then got up at 4am on Sunday (ouch :lol: ) to fly to Austin with my wife for a vacation.

Friday, still on our trip, I started feeling just wiped and not good. A bunch of people at the wedding (12/70 total!) were testing positive for covid so I had a feeling. We did a couple of rapid tests and they came back negative but we flew home a day early anyways because I was coming down with something and didn't want to wait another day to travel. Turned out to be a good call because Saturday I woke up full blown sick and both of us tested positive. I've been laid out on the couch the last few days. Basically it's just been a bad cold/flu, except way more tired than a cold, and I can't smell or taste. My wife felt crummy just for a day and then was fine, it's odd how it hit us so differently. Honestly it's a relief to have it over with. We had covid in October too (also after a wedding) but I presume this time was omicron which everyone is just going to get seeing how easily it spreads.

Feeling better now except taste/smell. That's been a drag but on the plus I haven't had junk food or booze in almost a week since it's no fun to eat! :lol:

Anyways, didn't ruin the trip, still had a great time. Austin is a cool city, good shopping, great weather, unreal food everywhere you go and way better nightlife than Vancouver. Not sure I'd go back, once is enough with so many other places on my bucket list, but it's a cool spot all the same.

Wife has been on me for quite awhile to take time off and she would really like to take a vacation. Logistically it just hasn't been feasible to be away for all that long, mostly because of the dogs, especially since my dad's medical issues and then his passing. When he was living with us before the stroke, we could go away and know that he was home to take care of the dogs. But with him gone and with the kid in school, it just didn't work out. And the timing with work never seemed to work out. So finally, with the kid graduating here in just a few more weeks and no sign that she will be moving out terribly soon, looking in to scheduling a vacation this late summer/early fall.

I was lucky enough to go to Europe 3 times when one of my buddies from back in high school way back in the day was stationed in Holland when he was in the Air Force. I drive 70 miles home on Sundays to do laundry, shop and see mom and dad. Found a tire and brake shop that was still open at 4:30 on a Sunday, asked if they did other mechanical and left it with them as I was afraid to attempt the drive back up to work.

Called Dad for a ride, then asked him to steal his only car to get back to work this morning. Anyway, The A/C compressor bearing went out, probably would have smoked the belt driving it any longer. Gonna cost $900 bucks to fix but they can have it done by tomorrow. Dads gonna pick it up, then I'll skip out of here early Wed and drive back to swap cars as he needs his back for a trip to S Carolina Thurs.

Always an adventure. Sure I'm dumping another $900 into a 2003 Odyssey van with 185k on it but with used car prices ridiculously high right now I figure its worth it. Been a good van to me.

No, I haven't been because of the new puppy. But as soon as she's old enough to not need supervision (she's pretty close now) I'm going to get back into it. School is done for the kid after today, so she'll be home to look after the dog too, so I should be able to start back up soon.

I drive 70 miles home on Sundays to do laundry, shop and see mom and dad. Started my mainland car up and heard one of the pulleys making noise, gave it a bit of gas and it quieted down, drove home then went back out to run errands. Every time I started it it got louder and longer lasting. Well, the vans done, Dad picked it up last evening. He says the air isn't cold. :banghead:. Now I have to drive 70 miles home, give him his car back,, go argue with the shop and either leave it and try and find a ride 70 miles back to work, or take it and deal with it later.

Me either on worknights, but it's because all the other kids staying down here in housing are from Columbia and are keeping the temp at 70F. Then they cook dinner at 8 or 9PM and it turns into an oven down here. Using a fan to sleep makes me feel like I'm in an air fryer. I'm soaked in sweat and crispy on the outside this morning.

Turn the a/c down colder and tell them to put a sweatshirt on if they're cold :lol:

Used the McD's app for curbside pick-up over the weekend and it is awesome I have to say. Wife wanted McD's breakfast so we just ordered stuff for all 3 of us on the app and I went to go pick it up. I was at first just going to pick it up at the drive-thru but when I got to McD's (it's like 3 minutes from my house) the drive-thru was INSANE. So the app knew I was there and asked how I wanted to pick up my order and I chose curbside. Parked, entered the spot number I was parked in (I was the only one at mobile pick-up) and waited. I was there maybe 2 or 3 minutes when she came out with my food while the drive thru line barely moved. It was awesome. Plus there was a 20% discount for using the app and choosing pick-up for your order. Worked great all the way around.

Im kinda over all fast food at this point. I dont know if across the board the quality went down, but even the places I used to think were great, all seem to be garbage now. Which is fine, means I eat less crap.
