I'm guessing that it's probably one of the elements, but they are "sealed" inside the interior of the oven. Turning it on, it feels like they are both heating up, but it must be either only partially or not hot enough because it takes almost 3 times as long to cook something and the meat thermometer I use takes the ambient temp of the interior of the oven as well as the internal temp of the meat and it shows the oven temp around 100° to 150° lower than what the oven is set to.

Looking at replacement elements, they are about $200/each. We could do the trial and error and see if we guess right, if that's even the issue.

Maybe confirm that there is 220V getting to the elements? If it's not heating on broil or bake fast it's unlikely both elements crapped out at the same time. Could be a loose wire on one of the two 120 legs and only getting partial power. or I'm assuming it's a digital display, possibly some sort of controller.

Nice thing about cheap basic models is they are also cheap and easy to repair. The newer sleek fancy ones are more difficult and expensive.

I've seen weird stuff happen. Casing on wire rubbing through from the heat cool cycles and grounding out (unlikely in your case as it would trip the breaker), mouse chewed wires, corrosion in the plug, etc. Worth checking out before spending a grand on a new one.

It was interesting to see this Mr. Beast kid on JRE last week. Kid has 200+ million subscribers on youtube at age 23, biggest youtuber in the world right now. Him and Rogan couldn't be more different, they didn't really speak the same language, but it got me thinking how these two characters are the faces of two incredibly powerful forms of media (Podcasting and Youtube respectively) that are continuing to pound 'main stream media' like Netflix and cable TV. No chance in hell any suits at a network could organically create a Rogan or Mr Beast of their own, the future seems to be people just doing it themselves, owning their product and finding their audience on their own terms. One thing that really interested me about this kid, being a generation or two younger than me, is that he doesn't see Youtube as a means to get on Netflix or get a TV show, he purely sees Youtube as prestige on its own. And his shit gets more views than any TV show ever could right now.

There's more to dig out of that, but my first thought is just to buy more Google stock purely for youtube alone. :lol: I don't think it's by any means too late if the younger generation is any predictor of future trends (they always are).

Yup! I kinda respect him. His shit is definitely aimed at a younger audience and makes me cringe personally, but he's doing good for the world with a ton of philanthropy, he's appealing to a ton of people with light, fun, uncontroversial content, and his kept his multi-million dollar empire in the same town her grew up in and surrounds himself with his old buddies. I've had that happen before (asked for item to be shipped but Walmart delivers it from a local store instead). James Yeager has passed away after losing his battle with ALS. If y'all weren't aware, James was one of the first guntubers on Youtube. He was a bit brash and he divided the gun community, and at times he was downright offensive, but the people that knew him said he was a really good guy. No idea where they got my card number this time. Ever since the last time a few months ago, I have REALLY limited as to where I use my debit card. At stores that accept Google Pay, I use that as GP generates a virtual card number so your real debit card number isn't exposed. Anyplace else, including buying stuff online, I have switched to using a credit card because it's a lot easier to dispute things like that, plus no actual money has left your bank account like it does with debit card fraud.

Wife texted me this morning that Thor was in distress and I needed to get home ASAP. She was able to get him to the vet herself and I got a text from her while I was on my way home, Thor's stomach had flipped, from what we don't know, but there wasn't anything the vet could do. We could roll the dice and try emergency surgery or we could put him to sleep. With his age and his other health issues, we made the hard decision to say goodbye. We didn't want to put Thor thorough anymore. So we lost Thor today and I'm heartbroken. It's been the shittiest of shitty days.

Thanks everyone, still just kinda numb. It was hard losing Thor because it just happened so suddenly. We were really broken up losing Pepper earlier this year, but at least with her, we knew it was coming and we were able to prepare ourselves for it. Not that it makes it any easier, but at least we knew it was coming. With Thor, it happened so quickly, it was barely 2 hours between when the wife texted me that there was a problem with Thor and when it was all over and he had passed. He was such a good boy and I miss him so much already.

Had a meeting with our COO and VP. I'm moving back to Underwriting from Business Development for a newly created role leading a team that only services our largest client. I'm excited but nervous. My current role has no direct reports, I just do a lot of liaising between teams and relationship management. I don't know if I'll be a good leader of people yet, I've lead projects but never had permanent direct reports. I have 3 months to build out what the team will look like and eventually filling the positions we deem the team to need, but I have so much to learn on the HR/PX side. It's going to be stressful but I hope I'm up for it and that I can become as good a boss as the ones I've had over the years. Might order a few books to help me through if anyone has tips?

A few things I always hated in a boss: (some that were taught in business school)

1: Everyone is replaceable, they are not your friends. (Shows no loyalty to staff, if you don't care about them, don't expect it from them)
2: Punishing everyone for one persons mistake "to be fair". (Making new restrictive rules because of one bad egg is stupid)
3: "Because I said so" (Yes, I've had many bosses demand I do something that sounded stupid and would not explain the reasoning behind it)
4: Lack of flexibility. "it's 8:01, you're late!" (If you're 100% rigid on the timeclock, don't expect anyone to put in extra time/effort when a big deadline comes up)
5: Sitting on a golden throne. (When the team is in the weeds, get off your ass and help!)

Had a meeting with our COO and VP. I'm moving back to Underwriting from Business Development for a newly created role leading a team that only services our largest client. I'm excited but nervous. My current role has no direct reports, I just do a lot of liaising between teams and relationship management. I don't know if I'll be a good leader of people yet, I've lead projects but never had permanent direct reports. I have 3 months to build out what the team will look like and eventually filling the positions we deem the team to need, but I have so much to learn on the HR/PX side. It's going to be stressful but I hope I'm up for it and that I can become as good a boss as the ones I've had over the years. Might order a few books to help me through if anyone has tips?

6hrs and $338 later, I got the truck back. Went to the appartment office, and got the company we lease from on a teams call.
Seems at this apartment complex,the parking passes are only for the open, unassigned spaces. Garages or carport spots don't require a pass. Thats the stupidest thing I've heard of in awhile. Most places are opposite.
After all I said and done, they going to issue 2 passes that hang from rearview mirrors (so we can swap between trucks)

Even if they forecast the wrong dominant strain for the flu season, it still takes the edge off if you do happen to catch it. I'm getting ads non stop for the different battery/solar generators out there. They are neat but to be ably to power just the bare household necessities for any more than an hour or two, you're looking at 5k minimum. For another 3K in solar panels you may stretch the time a bit, but lets be honest, if the power goes out, it's likely not going to be sunny.

IF they were much cheaper I'd seriously look into one. A decent dual fuel Inverter/generator can be had for between $500-$1000 + a few tanks of propane could last for days in an emergency. Indefinitely of you already have a propane furnace and a big tank.

Its an Eaton ups battery backup. 9kw iirc. We use them to keep operator screens and sbc (single board computers) running when the diesel gets blackout, which is common. It prevents having to citrate traveling block heights, pressure setpoint, etc everytime they blackout.

Interesting. Just switched apartment at work. The company we lease from requires an occupancy background check. Nothing new there. Never had any issues. This time it came back "criminal report". I called TransUnion and it seems they show i have a conviction for DWI. I asked when, as I haven't been arrested since my early 20s. Apparently it was 1990. Now I did get arrested for DWI then, in Galveston County, but I was not convicted. I received deferred adjudication. That has never been on my record, ever, and I've had some pretty thorough background checks since then. As of now, I have a dispute claim with TransUnion. Galveston doesn't keep misdemeanor records that far back.

I'm fine, the other car actually got the worst of it. The benefit of having a pick-up I guess, but she still jacked it up pretty good considering. Fucked up my bumper, dented my tailgate, wiped out some lights and connectors on the back end. Luckily the truck is perfectly drivable, so I don't have to worry about it being stuck in the shop for months like the wife's was. I need to call the shop to schedule an appointment for the estimate now.

The accident happened on a fairly busy street, the flow of traffic was coming to a hard stop for some reason and had to really nail the brakes. I came close to hitting the car in front of me, but I was able to stop. The woman behind me must have been following too close because she didn't stop in time and hit me. Called the cops but they said to just exchange info and file a report online, so the drawback to that seems like it will be my word against hers when it comes to which insurance is going to pay. That will be up to the insurance companies to hash out I guess. But since she's the one that rear ended me, that should pretty much automatically make her the responsible party. At least she had normal insurance (Allstate) unlike the bitch that hit the wife.

So, we'll see how it goes.

Off to Italy tomorrow! First week is a conference, and then my wife is joining me and we're doing two weeks traveling around northern Italy. Well that was quite the weekend...my boss brought some flu/virus/bad cold something into the shop last week. He was here Tuesday and was undoubtedly sick because he actually stayed home sick, which he NEVER does. Then came back in on Thursday. Well either on Tuesday while he was here or Thursday when he came back, he had ended up spreading it to me. I could feel it a little Thursday evening, but I wasn't 100% for sure what it was because my allergies have been acting up. But on Friday I knew I was getting sick because as they day went on, I kept feeling worse and worse. Went home a little earlier than usual on Friday and still wasn't feeling THAT bad, but the next day it was awful. In fact, it was so bad in the middle of the night, I went and slept in the other room because I couldn't stop coughing and I didn't want to keep her up. Felt like shit all day Saturday and ended up sleeping in the other room again Saturday night because the coughing fits were so bad and so protracted.

After the wife got up that morning, I went back to lie down for awhile because I had barely a few hours of actual sleep over the past few nights. Luckily when I went to lie down, the coughing had dialed way back so I was able to get a bit of rest. Here's where it gets to be the worst part of the whole thing. After a few hours of laying down, I had to use the bathroom. When I was done I suddenly got super dizzy and sick to my stomach, so all I wanted to do is get back into bed and lie down and hopefully have it pass. Never made it. I guess on the way to bed, I just passed out and hit the deck. I went down hard because the wife was outside with one of the dogs and she said she heard me hit the deck. She said I was out a couple of minutes trying to wake me up and was just about to call 911 when I finally came to. As soon as I was conscious, I scrambled back into the bathroom and got sick. And when I collapsed, I landed on the right side of my face and have a huge bruise under my eye and split my lip and bled all over the floor. I have never ever felt THAT bad before.

Stayed on the bathroom floor for quite awhile waiting for the queasiness to pass and the dizziness to go away. Finally made it back into bed and laid down for several hours, dozing off and on. About 2 PM I was starting to actually feel better and decided to wash up and try and go downstairs. Took it easy and as the rest of the day progressed, I kept feeling better. Was able to get some sleep last night and felt about 75% this morning, so came back into work today. My diaphragm area of my stomach hurts really bad still from all the coughing and my throat is still pretty raw from coughing too, but all in all, I feel way better than I did at any point over the weekend.

Not sure what it was that I had, but it was NOT fun.

Felt like shit all day Saturday and ended up sleeping in the other room again Saturday night because the coughing fits were so bad and so protracted.

After the wife got up that morning, I went back to lie down for awhile because I had barely a few hours of actual sleep over the past few nights. Luckily when I went to lie down, the coughing had dialed way back so I was able to get a bit of rest. Here's where it gets to be the worst part of the whole thing. After a few hours of laying down, I had to use the bathroom. When I was done I suddenly got super dizzy and sick to my stomach, so all I wanted to do is get back into bed and lie down and hopefully have it pass. Never made it. I guess on the way to bed, I just passed out and hit the deck. I went down hard because the wife was outside with one of the dogs and she said she heard me hit the deck. She said I was out a couple of minutes trying to wake me up and was just about to call 911 when I finally came to. As soon as I was conscious, I scrambled back into the bathroom and got sick. And when I collapsed, I landed on the right side of my face and have a huge bruise under my eye and split my lip and bled all over the floor. I have never ever felt THAT bad before.

Stayed on the bathroom floor for quite awhile waiting for the queasiness to pass and the dizziness to go away. Finally made it back into bed and laid down for several hours, dozing off and on. About 2 PM I was starting to actually feel better and decided to wash up and try and go downstairs. Took it easy and as the rest of the day progressed, I kept feeling better. Was able to get some sleep last night and felt about 75% this morning, so came back into work today. My diaphragm area of my stomach hurts really bad still from all the coughing and my throat is still pretty raw from coughing too, but all in all, I feel way better than I did at any point over the weekend.

Not sure what it was that I had, but it was NOT fun.

Wow. Sounds like a low blood pressure moment. Please tell me you're taking the day off work tomorrow!

That's what I was thinking. Maybe the bug dehydrated him and his blood pressure dropped because of it. That's happened to me before. I caught the flu and before I actually felt sick, it dehydrated me bad and my bp dropped fast. I passed out in front of a bunch of people and made them all shit their pants. :lol: That was the worst part about it. The rest of the ordeal was minor. One day of sniffles and a sore throat. Maybe two or three coughs. Slept for like 15 hours and my body fought it off. I was a lot younger though.

Drink plenty of fluids, Lance. And I don't mean soda or beer. Drink water or Gatorade. If you do the Gatorade, just make sure you brush your teeth after. Gatorade has a knack for staining teeth. But do keep yourself hydrated. Chicken noodle soup, too.

You mean yesterday? Nope, I was at work. I felt a lot better Monday morning (and even Sunday evening) than I did that morning when I passed out. I feel even a little better today still.

I'm sure I was dehydrated. I was drinking water all day yesterday while at work and barely had to pee at all.

My cousin, the only other person in a wheelchair in my extended family, has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Not sure what kind. She's only three years older than me. Granted, she's had all kinds of medical problems in her life that I've never had to deal with, but still...

I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy on Tuesday. Normally I would shrug it off in pure me fashion, but now I'm a little nervous.

Is this your first colonoscopy? I knew I was super apprehensive before my a few years ago, but really, don't build up anything in your head, there's nothing you can do about it anyways. I know it's hard after just hearing the news about your cousin, but still don't try and let that get into your head.

Thanks, appreciated. I had one a while back and came out perfectly clean. I'm not overly worried, it's just cancer runs in the family on both sides. I am getting older. It's just in the back of my mind.

I probably have nothing to worry about, so I'm not gonna worry about it. That cheeseburger I've been wanting is gonna be my celebratory meal after everything's said and done. I'm gonna go try a new burger joint in town now that the Hardees here closed down.

Tonight's the last night in my summer place, I have to clean, pack up and tomorrow morning shut the water off and winterize the place.

Also been busy with work trying to get 100 properties shut down, 70 golf carts stuffed away in the barns and all the other stuff that comes up in my last few weeks of work for the year.
